Well, it's not really our actual birthday. Two of us use the account and you can't put two birthdays so we just put in our DeviantART birthday (the day we made the account).

I actually really like your style of art. Its cute but not to the point its girly and its very well thought out, drawn, and proportioned. If I owned this stuff called money, I'd definitely commission you.

Do you know how to get good scan quality for traditional sketches?
π: 0 β©: 1
FactoryFactory In reply to XTaeKwonDoDoX [2012-08-12 19:11:17 +0000 UTC]
As far as I know, the only way to get a high-quality scan is to have a good scanner.
If you have control over the settings, always make sure that you scan at a resolution of AT LEAST 300 dpi and in FULL-COLOUR. Never do grayscale, it doesn't pick up every tone.
As far as cleaning up your sketches after they've been scanned, Endling has an amazing technique using the dodge tool with different settings other than default.

Other factors would simply be the actual line-quality of your work. If it's really light or smudgy, the scanner is not going to do what it's supposed to. Take the time to erase any extra marks and darken your lines before you scan anything.
I hope this helps!

Do you know what would be concidered a good scanner? I'm i going to have to buy a pricey one?
Thanks this helped a lot

Well, the best scanner I've ever used would have to be the ones that the schools have: [link]
Though it's kind of pricey, if you scan a lot, they're REALLY GOOD.
Otherwise, Epson sells a cheaper version of the school's scanner, which I'm sure would be good enough for whatever you need to do. [link]

Like good to the fact that when i scan a picture i won't have to edit the picture at all when i put it up on the computer?
Thanks, but i think it would be worth paying more and invensting in the higher quality one if it preforms as well as you say it does.

I believe all Epson scanners do some auto-editing as it scans (at least the ones at school do) to make it look it's best, but if you don't quite like how it looks, you can just move the little sliders right in the scanning application to exactly how you want it and re-scan before you ever even save it to your computer.
It's very easy and has saved me quite a bit of time.
I've only used the more expensive one, but I'm sure the cheaper scanner does a dandy job as well. If you didn't want to spend the extra money, I mean...
Maybe there's a way to try out some scanners before you buy?
I suppose if one doesn't work like you want it to, you could always return it as well.
