It was so nice of you to drop me a comment, thank you so much! I've been missing you too, I thought you left DA or something. But its so lovely to see you around.
I admit, I have been shamefully inactive, but not unproductive. University leaves me much more free time now so I started to work on a bunch of drawings lately. Most of them are unfinished though. I had many great ideas at once, and my mind was all over the place. I need to go through them in an organized manner and focus on one at a time, so I can finish them and then upload them here. But this will happen very soon(i have like 3 WIP pics and one that only needs colouring)
What's up with you lately? Life is treating you well, i hope?

aw sorry! I ask the same; Where are you, precious time? It's a bad excuse but it feels like i don't even have time to sit down and grab any tool before there are "to do's" calling. But now i have gotten a new computer and tablet back so hopefully it will get going again! And have to say I'm flattered people miss me! Btw, is heading to NY this summer, you have any tips?

that was speedy! glad to see you active again! i hope to see new arts soon!
NYC tips:
act like you know where you're going. even if you have to circle the block to get there! I like to say, New Yorkers don't get lost, they just go the long way!
don't be afraid of the subway, it is your friend! you can get anywhere you need to be, and u can usually correct yourself if you get off course without too much trouble.
if you need to ask for directions, be assertive. not agressive, there's a difference. people are usually willing to help you out, once you make that firs tocntact, but not if you're very timid. these are busy people!
SECURE YOUR VEHICLE! if you have one. if not, you are truly blessed.
keep your wallet in your FRONT pants pocket. if you pay with a card, put it right back in your wallet in your pocket. you will always know where it is.
if you don't have a pocket, or a wallet that fits in it ;} get an ID badge holder and keep your important cards, and/or a little working cash in that around your neck. so many of my friends have lost wallets, credit cards, and ID cards [or had them stolen!] because they were careless. shoulderbags are convenient but less secure.
don't wander by yourself. especially at night, in quiet neighborhoods. EPSECIALLY if you've had a few drinks. keep a determined pace, like you belong there and know where you're going. or call a cab. it's worth it.

Well I'm dA every day, checking deviations, comment ect., just that I don't have anything to upload myself.
Luckily I'm going with my bf and his family that have been there once before. They are very used to traveling (i'm not) and i feel i'm going to have a hard time melting in since I'll be amazed to see a building higher than 5 stores, just as ONE example.
But yes, sounds like it's quite similar to big town-life here, people often say that Sweden has "become like America" with all stuff that happens today, but it's kind of wrong since it's the same absolutely everywhere. Since I was in Turkey last year I see the U.S. as a very sane place compared!
We'll move around by foot and subway, and I'll keep money and ID close and in as small amounts as possible, though we'll be in shopping territory so to say. I better get some comfortable shoes, when they walk I run, and they think 3.5 miles isn't any big deal, and i'm like "whut?!" when i realized it's almost 5 kilometers. But I guess I won't even think about getting tired, will be too busy with being fashinated.

def get some comfy shoes! i have a friend in NYC and i'm practically running to catch up with her! she walks there all the time. she's very speedy! It's too bad i can't walk as much @ home as when i lived in NYC. that was good for me! tho probly breathing all the smog wasn't.

I looked at some maps over avenues and streets and so on, and it's a darn net! Just squares row after row after row, I would get so lost since it probably looks the same everywhere. (or not, but my local memory is...not well) In sweden a town looks like a fishing net that has been repaired a thousands times, no structure at all and very narrow streets, because they in many cases are several hundred years old.
guess it's pretty much smog, yes? Also it seems like it gets really hot there now and then! Now I remember I have to study farenheit too... And so much else to compare! Even a food store is a completely other world. You have milk in plastic containers, paperbags without handles... Sorry, I'm silly that think of such stuff, but it's fun in a way.
I'm also sorry I write a whole bible to you every time I answer. But it's fun too! ^^

you think we would put handles on paper sacks. that would make sense!!
often you can buy milk in cartons as well as plastic though.
the only places the 'grid' layout doesn't work in NYC is Greenwich Village, and Brooklyn Heights. but, there is a street sign on every corner. keep your map with you. if you know where you are, and where you need to be, you can usually figure out a simple route. or, hop a subway! depending on how long you are staying it may be worth it to purchase a weekly or monthly subway pass. you can ride as much as you need.
