THANK YOU!

The day did indeed include lots of coffee and ciggies, but unfortunately, no chocolate. I did, however, recieve a gift card to a very popular gym that I've been thinking about joining. Thanks mom...?

Hey Sweetheart!!! How are you doing, luv? How did the short movie go!? I recall you mentioning you had Jiraiya's theme tune? How appropriate for you, MINX! Are you on break now? Has the heat melted you away? How're you coping?

Hope you're keeping well, Petal.

Baby!! I was just about to write to you and ask how your summer was going.
The short movie went really well. People laughed at all the right places, and I'll forever be known as Benkyou no Kami-sama. (which, considering I haven't exactly been academic wonderwoman lately, is rather ironic... ) The guys in my group are really good at editing movies and such, and they added a whole bunch of awesome soundtracks and soundeffects... Hopefully, we might be able to add it on youtube eventually.

Yes - summer vacation has begun, and although I was bedridden with a pretty bad cold the entire first day, I felt much better on Friday. Me and my friends celebrated with nomihodai (drink all you want) Karaoke. I didn't get home until 9 AM on Saturday morning.

The heat tries its best to melt me away, but I won't let it. I hide away in my apartment during the hottest hours. Thank god for AC.

How are YOU doing, my love? Has the weather improved at all? Last time we spoke you mentioned heavy rain and floods... I hope the rest of the summer will be all sunshine and warmth for you brits! Are you still working during the summer? Will you take some time off soon? And how's the book coming along? I noticed you have some new artwork on your profile, which I intend to check out as soon as I'm done writing.

Woah. It's getting hot now. I need ice cream. I've never been much for ice cream (I've always preferred something cold to drink instead), but I've found this supertasty japanese ice cream that comes in small cups (you buy a pack with 6 cups at the supermarket), and it's so good. It's orange/grapefruit flavored, and compared to all the creambased, sugary ice creams you can buy in Sweden, this one actually fulfills its' purpose - to cool me down. And my freezer is utterly stuffed with'em. Come on heat - give it your best shot! You can't touch me - I have ice cream!!

!

Oooh! Do let me know if that video makes it onto YouTube. I'd love to see Benkyou no Kami-sama in action

*laughs* Nomihodai sounds like a great opportunity to hear you sing, woman! Did you get up and belt out a few tunes? With that gorgeous voice, I should bribe one of your friends to video you and post up the goods on YouTube.

Wow! Glad to learn you're managing to survive the heat. You asked about the weather here and I'm happy to report that iit's become crazy hot over here in England. FINALLY!!! I'm so happy! Been waiting for this for the past month. You'll be proud to know that I took a break from work yesterday to go to a theme park with my childhood friend. Relived the crazy! It was good fun. Was fun to let loose and scream profanity on the rides...heedless of the little ears and innocent minds everywhere. I can't control myself in those situations...its like if ever I'm playing a video game...the shit that spews out of my mouth...not lady-like at all. Good thing I'm a saint on the other days, eh?

The book is a'coming along! I had a finger in too many pies with the workload (as per usual When will I ever learn?)...decided to 'take a break' today by continuing the on-going mission of cleaning out my entire room. Jesus. H. Christ. If I had a pound for every piece of paper or shit I've thrown out I'd be rolling in money.

Ooh! The ice cream that you mentioned in Japan - is it the flavoured ice, as opposed to the cream part? I read somewhere you can get green tea flavoured ones!?

Sure thing, luv! Kinda embarrassing though... I'm a really weird godess. I start out being "super-cool" (or at least to be cool) but I eventually turn really silly.

Nomihodai is AWESOME. Unfortunately, however, my voice can't really keep up with the amount of sake I drink, so I usually end up sounding like hell. Also, I've noticed that my voice isn't really used to singing anymore. Which makes me sad. I have to start humming to myself more often.

Oh yes, I've come to understand how to withstand and, more importantly, avoid the heat. I'm very proud of myself. It only took me two months. lol.
YAY! I'm so happy for you! The weather in Sweden is apparently still utter crap. My sister is so disappointed - she hasn't been able to go to the beach even once.
Omg, that sounds so awesome! What rides did you go for?? I'm a big fan of roller coasters, myself. And yeah - I'm really happy you took that day off. Good woman! It's important to spoil yourself once in a while. Especially when you're a workaholic.
Hey - don't feel bad: I scream like a mad woman when I ride roller coasters. It's half the fun! I think it's great that you're letting go of the lady-like behavior now and then. It's healthy.

Oh my. Sounds like you've had it rough. Poor baby. The feeling you get after you're done cleaning out your room is really amazing though, right?? I actually did something similar not too long ago, and afterwards I just sat on my bed for like an hour, utterly spent and supercontent with how shiny everything was.

The ice cream isn't flavored ice, it's something else. I'm not entirely sure myself. It's different from Swedish ice cream, but it's not just flavored ice either. Could be yoghurt based. I don't know, and I don't care - it's tasty as fuck, so I'm eating it.
Yeah, we can get green tea flavored ice cream here. It's much more similar to the soft kind of ice cream that we can get in Europe, and it usually comes in cones. Some of my friends bought it not too long ago. Personally I'm not a big fan of green tea, so I haven't tried it yet, but they say it's tasty. I suppose I should give it a try. I'll report back to you afterwards. There's also Sakura flavored ice cream, sweet bean flavored ice cream, etc... Apparently there's also FISH flavored ice cream (), but strange stuff like that is most likely only available in fancy ice cream stores. Not sure I'm openminded enough to give that one a try.

Also, I've noticed that my voice isn't really used to singing anymore. Which makes me sad. I have to start humming to myself more often. : NOOOO!!! *pours honey down your throat* YOU CAN'T LOSE THAT GORGEOUS VOICE! How are you going to serenade me?!

*laughs* Yes, nothing like a good theme park to bring out your inner kid. I think I've been spoiled though. When I was 20 I went to Orlando, Florida and was totally ruined by the awesomeness of their theme parks in comparison. It's just not the same! I'm all for roller coasters…provided they don't go upside down…although I did end up on and upside down one in Florida, unbeknown to my innocent and unsuspecting self (it was an Aerosmith ride that takes place in pitch darkness at intervals with kickass Aerosmith music blasting all around you). :snicker: Yes, the lady steps aside and the potty-mouthed sinner comes out to play.

On a more innocent and sweet note, I got to see some animals although I do HATE zoos...knowing they're trying to converse the wildlife helps a little...it still breaks my heart to see tigers and lions pacing around in their enclosures...they just don't belong there.......Hey, Sweetheart, what's your favourite animal?

OOH! Yoghurt! I LOVE frozen yoghurts. Are you a fan? They've become pretty popular over the past few years. Probably the whole 'healthy option' thing.
Looking forward to your report on the green tea – macha/sencha? I hear it's an acquired taste indeed. Sakura flavoured icecream!? Ciiah. You MUST try that and report back, please? I'll reward you.
FISH flavoured icecream? WTF? WHY!? WHHHY?

What else have you been up to, Sweetheart? Any other culture shocks or surprises or are you pretty much settled in now?

FionaDied In reply to Okami-Rayne [2012-07-29 04:32:00 +0000 UTC]

Fear not, milady. There shall be plenty of serenading once I can afford going to London. My voice will come back to me eventually. I haven't really had time for singing lately, so I'm just a bit rusty. Considering I spent almost every day in Junior high, high school, AND college singing, it's no wonder my vocal chords are going "ta fuq?" right now. It's like I've gone cold turkey.

Aww, sweetie! I know the feeling, actually. We have plenty of theme parks in Sweden, but the two absolute BEST ones are in Stockholm (Gröna Lund) and Gothenburg (Liseberg). Once you've visited one of them, everything else pales in comparison. I've probably never been to anything amazing enough to rival the one you went to in Florida, but I guess I should consider myself lucky? (That aerosmith ride sounds awesome, btw. I can only imagine what you were like while riding it.)
Oooh, going upside down was one of my biggest fears when I was younger, but now I find it thrilling. Rides that I really find horrifying are rides like... um, well the swedish title for it is "Fritt fall" which directly translates to "Free fall"... Do you know what I'm talking about? If not - google it. They have one of those at Gröna Lund. It's 80 meters tall, and when you go down, it's at a speed of 110 km/h. I've already been up there four times, cursing my own need for adrenaline and praying for survival. (The view is really amazing though. )

Hm. I don't usually have problems with zoos, but that's probably because I don't visit them often enough to feel sorry for the animals. I do agree with you though. Lions and tigers belong in Africa and India. If people so desperately want to see them, they should go there instead of forcing animals away from their natural habitat. Let's just keep in mind, sad as it may be, that a lot of the animals that we see in zoos nowadays are actually born there. They don't know any better.
My favorite animal? Hm. When I was younger, I adored Pandas. I still do, but I would have to say that the fox is placed higher on the list now. They're wicked. For pets, I adore cats - as long as they adore me back. Generally speaking, however, I'm not really an animal-person. What about you, love? What's your favorite animal? Do you have any pets?

Frozen Yoghurt isn't as big in Sweden as it is in England yet, but we do have it, and yes - I'm a fan. I don't like things that are too sweet - I prefer things that are a bit more tangy, so frozen yoghurt is definitely tastier than regular Ice cream in my opinion.

Macha/sencha? Wut? I'm sorry, but I haven't really been in an exploring mood the past few months. It's been too hot. Explain it to me. What exactly is it that you want me to try? What's Macha?
Rayne. I will report back to you as soon as I'm able to buy it. ... Haven't seen it in the stores lately though, so it might be a seasonal thing: only availble during hanami. But usually, if you go to one of the fancy ice cream parlors, you'll be able to get just about any flavor Japan has to offer.
And yes - FISH. I don't know if it's just a rumor or not, but I promise I'll report back to you if I find it. I'm NEVER going to taste it, though. No one can make me eat fish ice cream. Heck, I don't even like fish as FOOD. I know it's childish, but I'm extremely picky with foods.
People told me that even though I never liked Sushi back in Sweden, I should definitely give Japanese Sushi a try, because it was going to be sooo much tastier. (<-- Imagine me speaking with a deeply sarcastic voice and quirking my eyebrow. Because that's what I'm doing.)
They lied. It's not tastier. At all. *shudder* It's raw fish, cold rice, and it's wrapped in fucking seaweed, Rayne. I don't get it! What do you people see in it!?

Actually, I'm pretty much settled in now. I mean, I still get major surprises now and then, but I bounce back much faster these days. I've grown accustomed to my part of town, the stores, my apartment, etc. No problems here! I'm afraid I haven't been very adventurous since the summer vacation started, though. I've mainly lazed around in my apartment, eating ice cream, drinking obscure amounts of coffee... Oh, but I actually refurnished the place a few days ago. I love doing that once in a while. It's so refreshing. (Almost broke my back when it was time to move my bed to the other side of the room, and it still aches, but that's totally beside the point!)
And today I'm having one of those epic cleaning days, where the goal is to make everything sparkle before the sun sets. I'm waiting for my laundry to dry right now.

What have you been up to, except going to theme parks and watching foreign animals suffer?
(Is it just me, or are my replies getting longer and longer? )

*laughs* I look forward to your serenading, my lovely.
The "Fritt Fall" ride you described sounds…detrimental to one's health. No thank you. I will pass go, collect my $300 dollars' worth of quick-hit sanity and a dose of tea.
Aww. A fox fan? We have a little fox that always vists our garden. He has been lovingly dubbed 'Biscuit'…he screams like a banshee though. Jesus Christ. The sounds those animals make sounds like a baby being strangled. *laughs* I recall your misadventures with the cats you took on in your apartment. Do you miss them? I'm not much of a cat person I'm afraid. They leave me cold. Dogs, I do enjoy. As for my favourite animal? The Wolf. Hands down. Every time . I carry that animal with me everywhere in some form. My room used to be plastered with wolf posters. Other animals I really admire and feel great warmth for are elephants and tigers (big cats are great, just don't like the small domestic variety). I also like ravens/crows. Gorillas are pretty fascinating.
Pets? Nope! No pets. Waaay too much responsibility.
Whoops! I meant Matcha rather than 'macha' (typooo). It's a type of green tea methinks (I'm pretty sure it's powdered and used in chado/tea ceremony *checks notes* Yup!) and I think sencha is green tea using the leaves. I'm not that fond of green tea either, luv, but might try that if given the opportunity.
It's not childish to be picky with food. I'm the same. There's a load of stuff I won't touch.
Sushiii! Oh man, I wondered whether you'd be in for that little shocker. Yes, the RAW hardcore kind (otherwise known as authentic lol) is a far cry from the nicer variety they sell in our western stores, no? I went off sushi a while ago but I do admit that I enjoyed sushi nori (seaweed). I think it's the sticky rice that I don't like. I'm used to the Indian-asian style rice. Even then, I'm converted to South Indian/Sri Lankan style string hoppers now. Kinda looks like neat little webbing made from rice flour. Tasty with curry.
How did your cleaning day go, Petal? Is everything in order? Will I need to come over there and play drill sergeant? Make sure that you can bounce a penny off those taut bedsheets? *gets whip ready*
What have you been up to, except going to theme parks and watching foreign animals suffer? : Work, reading, cooking up a storm (Mum's birthday), cinema, trying to arrange a trip to Sri Lanka with a friend, tidying my room, scrapbooking shit I've been meaning to do for years. The usual juggling game!
What about you, luv? Any plans for August?
(Is it just me, or are my replies getting longer and longer? ): Baby, it's not the size…its what you DO with it.

OOOH! BTW. I love your new userpic....I think it deserves some action...

Oohh yeeaaah. Feel the lickety love...

Anything for you, my sweet. Any particular song you'd like me to sing? (I'm utterly worthless when it comes to country, though. Seriously. )

The "Fritt Fall" ride you described sounds…detrimental to one's health. - Indeed it is. The thing is, it seems so thrilling at first. And you start thinking to yourself "Heck, you only live once, Ciiah. Why not be a wild child?", and those thoughts become actions, because all of sudden, you find yourself in the line to Fritt Fall, heart pounding even though it's not even your turn yet, and you want to back out, but you don't want to back out, and before your inner war has come to an end, you're already strapped to your seat, and on your way up. There's no turning back. You don't really realize how scared you are at first, because the sight of your dangling feet over the rooftops fascinates you. It's not until you see your friends down there, staring up at you, shrinking as you go higher that you understand where the fuck you are and what is about to happen. And you think to yourself "ok, we're pretty high up now, so it can't be that much longer until we reach the top. It's cool. Just breathe." You don't have the courage to tip your head back to try and get a glimpse of how close you are to the top, so the fact that you're actually only half-way there doesn't really occur to you. You're just trying to focus on breathing, and not. Looking. Down. You keep going higher, and you try to fool yourself into believing that it's FUN. You're trying to convince yourself that the view over Stockholm is amazing, and that makes it worth it. You look over to the only friend who was brave enough to come with you. You're both pale, panicked, and you break into a fit of hysterious giggling. With a 'clonk', the cart finally reaches the top. You know that it's going to take a few seconds before they drop you, and the waiting makes it all so much worse. You're stuck. You hate yourself for being up there. Your heart pounds so hard it almost hurts. It's so strangely quiet up there. The wind makes your hair dance. Panicked thoughts about the ride being malfunctioning somehow flash through your mind, and you try to ignore them. What if there's something wrong with the cart? What if you get stuck up there? Or worse - what if the cart breaks off the pole on the way down? If that happens, you'll definitely die. And of course, there's that girl from the U.S. who apparently got her legs ripped off by a similar ride... You give your friend a miserable smile, and she returns it. 'We're idiots.'
The camera beeps, and you manage to give a brave smile and look somewhat relaxed in your seat, even though you know that you're going to scream your lungs out any second. They drop you. You go down. You can't think. Those five seconds feel like years, and you scream because it's so awful, and so terrifying, and everything about Fritt Fall goes against your very nature.
You reach the bottom. People cheer for you. You're shaky all over. Happy to be alive. And you promise yourself to NEVER do that again.
Alas, all those feelings are soon forgotten. Next year, you'll be in that line again. Thinking to yourself that you only live once. It's not that high. You'll be fine. The view over Stockholm is amazing.
That's what Fritt Fall does to me.
We're all idiots, Rayne.

I don't know why I like foxes. I can only assume that it has something to do with the animes and mangas I've watched and read that somehow include fox-characters, and they're all so darn awesome. Kyuubi (Kurama) being one of them, of course, but there's also the fox kid from xxxHolic. He's adorable beyond belief.
Ah, yes. *laughs* Those damn cats. I did enjoy my time with them, but Madonna was such a fucking handfull. Jesus. I'm actually considering getting a dog next time. I've been afraid of dogs ever since I was 7 (I got bitten in the face by one of my aunts dogs - nothing serious, but still enough to scare the living daylights outta me. ), so I've always preferred cats for that reason, and that reason alone. But my exgirlfriend, Christina, happens to have a dog. And that dog is so daft and so loving and so incredibly adorable that it makes my heart melt.
Oh, of course. Wolves. I shoulda known. "Okami"... D'uh. Wolves are majestic animals. They fascinate me. I actually had a poster with a wolf crying to the moon when I was younger, but it got ripped.
I love Lodjur, which is something entirely different in English... let's see... Oh. Lynx. Do you have Lynxes in England? Beautiful animals.
Raven/crows = I agree. There's something about them. (speaking of which, me and my friend Hanna noticed something the other day that kinda made us laugh. At least 90 % of the animes we've seen, that belong in the scary/psycho/darkness department, feature crows in the opening themes. If not in the opening theme, it's in the ending theme. Seriously. What's with that??)

Ah, matcha? I know what that is. Our teacher explained the details of a tea ceremony to us, in case we ever felt the urge to go watch one. Complicated stuff, that. Not for me.
It's not childish to be picky with food. I'm the same. There's a load of stuff I won't touch. THANK YOU. They won't stop teasing me.
(ooh, btw, we went to a place called Beer Garden last night. Basically a bufé (tabehodai) and all your can drink (nomihodai) party. On a rooftop. With hundreds of people. And hardrock coming from the speakers. T'was amazing. AND - I got to eat potatoes for the first time since I left Sweden!!! Have you any idea how thrilled I was?! Not french fries, not crisps, but actual potatoes. It was sooo goooooood.)

Sticky rice? I hear ya, sister. It's not what I'm used to either. I prefer making my own rice. ^^
South Indian/Sri Lankan style... string hoppers?? Huh? *googles* Ooooh! Looks tasty!

The cleaning went well - as expected of ciiah-sama! I might not be Miss Straight A student right now, but I'm still the champion when it comes to keeping my place clean. (Except that time when I was sick, and my landlord just happened to stop by to collect the rent. I've never been so ashamed of myself. Stuff everywhere.)
No, no. If I tried bouncing a penny on my bedsheets, I'd end up with a penny-shaped hole in my ceiling. Yeah. That's how awesome I am. lol.

Oooh, your mom's birthday is coming up?? What'd you get for her? And what movie did you see at the cinema? HAH - you're going to Sri Lanka to get some more of those string hopper noodle thingies, eh? Have fun, my luv!
Plans for august? Well, me and my friends are going to the cinema any day now to see the new Naruto movie (Road to Ninja), which I'm honestly superthrilled about. And I don't usually give a crap about the Naruto movies, but this one seems special. So we're looking forward to that. We're also planning to have a girl's day out - basically we're going shopping together, without the guys. People are talking about going to Tokyo for a few days, but I don't think I'll come with them this time. It's simply too hot. Me and Brian will prolly go there during X-mas instead. Apart from all that, we're planning to do a whole lot of studying and a whole lot of partying before school starts.

NUUUUUUUUHHHH! You sadist!

Heya Koneko Sorry it's taken me a while to respond to you. How's your week been, Sweetie?

Any particular song you'd like me to sing? (I'm utterly worthless when it comes to country, though. Seriously. ): *laughs* You don't have to sing country, luv. No worries. I shall have to think upon a song I'm totally holding you to it though, so be prepared!

Jaaysus. As much as I LOVED what you wrote, your account of the 'Fritt Fall' has definitely reinforced my strong urge for self-preservation. No way in hell you'd get me on that thing. Might destroy what precious little sanity I have left!

I had to look up the 'fox kid from xxxHolic' as I'm totally clueless to this anime. Is it any good?

Afraid of dogs, Petal? I'm really sorry you got bit – that tends to be the root cause. I've come across some scary hounds but also some adorable ones. You mentioned your ex Christina had a dog? Do you know what breed? The lynx! I agree with you on their beauty. They really are stunning looking animals. I'm not sure if we have them here – at least I'm not sure whether they're native to England. I would have to check. *googles* :computer: Oooh! " lynx skulls taken from the National Museums of Scotland and the Craven caves in North Yorkshire show they lived in Britain between 80 and 425 AD: There we have it. One upon a long-arse time ago!

The BEER GARDEN! Are you due to revisit considering you had such a smashing time? ! I'm glad you're packing in the fun, luv! A potato fan are you? Bless. You must visit Ireland!
Yup. My mother's birthday was on the 2nd. I ended up getting her two olive trees. She adores these trees – I got her a pair last Christmas too. If I can't get away to the South of France with her for a relaxing trip just yet then the least I can do is bring the trees to her.

Moooviess! I seriously underrate the cinema and never realise until I book myself a VIP seat and actually sit my arse down with some popcorn and a massive screen. I'd go more often if they made more good movies! WTF is up with all the horror shit? Is blood and gore the new form of entertainment? I ended up seeing the new SPIDERMAN with my brother. We tend to see the MARVEL films together, having been fans of the various series as kids. Are you much into MARVEL, luv? Did you grow up with it?

Speaking of movies, did you and your friends get to see ROAD TO NINJA?!

Also, when does school start up again for you?

*weeps* God DAMN do I want to get away from the UK for a bit. Yes, Sri Lanka is on the agenda. My childhood buddy and I intend to escape the cold in February and go for a 2 week break there. I really want to visit the elephant orphanage they have there. And the various Buddhist temples. Might even be in for a jungle safari if I can work it in Keep your fingers crossed for me, yeah? That failing, I might just finally take a swan dive into the deep end. If that happens then I suggest you lock your windows and your doors. Crazy comes in all sorts of shades and it'll be a CODE RED. !!!!

Don't worry about it, sweetheart. I'm sure you've been busy. My week's been pretty good. We've been doing some shopping, and I'm happy to announce that my closet now contains some Japanese fashion. But there's also been a lot of drama and a lot of stress, however, and I'm so happy it's finally Saturday. I swear I'm not moving from my bed until tomorrow. Got my pizza and my Japanese apple juice ready for a superlong movie night. By myself. God knows I've been looking forward to some alone-time. Does that ever happen to you? You spend so much time with friends and family that you start feeling somewhat smothered. No one's fault, but it happens. And I need to hide away in my apartment for a little while and recharge my sociality.

I'm looking forward to finding out what song you'll choose. By all means, hold me to it. I'm prepared!

Haha! ^^ Writing about Fritt Fall turned out to be fun. And hell, if what I wrote keeps you from trying Fritt Fall out, I'm happy. It's a crazy ride.

I had to look up the 'fox kid from xxxHolic' as I'm totally clueless to this anime. Is it any good? - I think you'd definitely like it. It's produced by CLAMP, and it's sort of a horror/comedy/drama story revolving around a guy named Watanuki Kimihiro who can see ghosts and spirits. He meets Yuuko, a witch/medium, who owns a store that grants people's wishes. But only people who really, really needs her help can see the store - it's invisible to everyone else. Watanuki starts working at the store, and together they try to solve mysteries and help people with their wishes. A lot of the times, psychological and ethical issues are adressed, since some of the customers make really selfish wishes, with severe consequences.
The animations are really beautiful, the style is different, and the stories are really interesting. Lots of Japanese folklore and culture. Several mythical creatures appear, too. Yeah, I think you'd definitely like it. Just keep an open mind in the begining - Watanuki is pretty energetic, even though he's generally a smart and responsible guy. He throws a lot of crazy fits when he's upset. Heh...
Wow... I spent a lot of time writing about this. I'm sorry. Seriously though, xxxHolic is a great anime. One of my all time favorites. I hope you'll give it a chance.

Afraid of dogs, Petal? I'm really sorry you got bit – that tends to be the root cause. - Indeed. And it was a Schaefer, too. Big guy. And I was like, 8. Imagine my horror. But I think I'm getting over it. Yes, Chrissy's family has a dog named Chippen. I'm not sure about the breed, though. Kinda reminds you of a cocker spaniel, but bigger. He's adorable. Wouldn't hurt a fly.

Oh no! The Lynx is extinct in England? That's so sad. Stunning creatures. We have a lot of them left in Sweden. I've seen one or two irl, actually. But that was a long time ago.

Beer Garden was a lot of fun, yes, but I'm not sure I have the energy to go back any time soon. So. Much. People. And the food is so amazing that you just wanna keep on eating, and then you end up feeling shitty afterwards. Ah~ Being a woman is fun. Potatoes = I love them. Do they have tasty potatoes in Ireland? Better than Swedish potatoes?? I must investigate!

Woah, you gave your mom trees?? That sure beats the flowers I gave my mom last year. I'm a terrible daughter!

I know what you mean. I rarely go to the cinema, even though I love watching movies. But when I do pay a visit, it's always a joy - as long as the other people know how to behave. Have you ever experienced wanting to throw your soda on someone because they won't shut up? It's happened to me a few times.
Oh, yes! I love Marvel, but I didn't grow up with it. I discovered it on my own when I was a teen. I've been dying to see The Amazing Spiderman! How was it? Don't spoil the ending, ok?

Nope, no Road to Ninja yet - we'll see it next week instead. I'm psyched.

School starts on the 22nd. And I have so much homework to do before that.

My childhood buddy and I intend to escape the cold in February and go for a 2 week break there. I really want to visit the elephant orphanage they have there. And the various Buddhist temples. - Ooh, that sounds so amazing! I'll definitely keep my fingers crossed for you guys!
Code Red, roger that! My windows shall remain locked and secured, ma'am.

How's the weather in London these days? Are you getting any sun? It's RAINING today!! It's been sunny for sooo long, it's completely drained my energy. The air smells so nice now, and it's not nearly as hot as it was yesterday. I'm happy.

Heya Koneko! How are you doing, Sweetheart?
OOOHH!!!! I had a DREAM about you!!! Yes. I did. You were huddled with a group of women, plotting some devious paramilitary attack on someone/something??? You were the leader of a guerrilla fighting force!! Imagine that!? My brain works in bizarre ways.

How goes it at your end, luv? Not plotting government take-overs are you? You mentioned having acquired a good selection of Japanese fashion? Lovely!!! What kind of clothes, luv? Piiicctuuurrees!

You also mentioned a lot of stress? Has that passed, luv? Did you get to enjoy YOU time with a superlong movie night? *laughs* Yes, Petal. I get like that more than I'd like to admit. I can be a bit of a lone wolf sometimes – not always healthy. I'm not much of a group person and prefer one-on-ones or small get-togethers. My previous experiences with larger 'groups' have been disastrous. Or maybe I've just had shitty luck with loyalty and maturity. I cannot STAND the bitching that goes on. Of course, if one is lucky to form a solid group of buddies who respect you and your choices then they are like gold dust. HOLD ONTO THEM!

Thanks for explaining XXHolic to me! I will add it to the 'to watch' list. I've currently got PONYO saved on my T.V. so I'll attempt to watch that at some point. I saw the name and recalled someone having mentioned it. Have you seen it? Any good?

Aw! I'm glad that Crissy's dog was able to represent the better part of the dog experience – you know, the NOT getting bit, part? Poor Sweetie. I can understand how that would have freaked you out. I'm still trying to work out why I have such a dislike for domestic cats……kittens are an exception. They are adorable.

You've seen lynxes IRL?! That's awesome!!! I think the closest I ever got to wolves was when I went on a 'wolf walk' when I was 16 and got to walk with them, pet them etc. and howl up a storm. I have a feeling I may have mentioned this before???

*grins* Aww, you're a spuds girl, eh? (spuds being potatoes). I used to like potatoes but now they don't like me and I've gone completely off them. I have no idea how to compare the Irish potatoes with the Swedish ones, but I'd be curious if there was even that much of a difference . Have you discovered any other foods over in Japan, luv? Also, when are you due to fly back? Do you think you'll miss it?

I loved your question about whether I've ever wanted to throw my soda on someone at the cinema because they don't have the brains or courtesy to shut the fuck up. (yes, the expletives were necessary, the rage turns red). Yes. I have. Only I'd rather go with solids than sodas. Soda ain't gonna make an impression on skulls that thick, you know?

You asked about THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN! It was VERRRRRYYY good!!! Really, really, really enjoyed it. It had a much grittier and darker feel than the Toby Maguire ones that came before (I could never take Toby seriously as Peter Parker, sadly.) This new actor does the roll very, very well. It's definitely worth watching!!!! It's interesting to see the character in his teens and his struggle to cope with things…also what motivates him to become a 'vigilante' in the first place. Go see when you can!!!

OOOH! Let me know what you think of ROAD TO NINJA!!!! !

How's the weather in London these days? Are you getting any sun?: *nods* This past week – excluding yesterday, which was like a monsoon – it's been warm and sunny! Quite humid actually. I was cooking a Sri Lankan curry, opened the doors to let in some air and was struck by the scent of the ocean. I shit you not. It was very, very strange. (oh, yes, where I live is FAAAR from any ocean! ) How's the weather at your end? Did you have the monsoon season? How's the heat/humidity?

Hope that you're looking after yourself, Sweetheart.

Hey baby. I'm okay. Better than last week, that's for sure. How's everything with you?

Oh my! That sounds so exciting! If I ever become the leader or an all-female guerrilla fighting force, I'll be sure to let you know. Heck, I'll probably even try to recruit you. I'm a bit sad to admit that my life isn't quite so interesting. I'm still just a student. (Or am I...? )

The new clothes I bought aren't that interesting. Saying I bought "Japanese fashion" sounds like I bought a bunch of pink skirts and Hello Kitty t-shirts. I didn't. I bought a bunch of shirts, new jewelry, some leggins, and new shoes. I might publish photos on my blog at some point. 'Might' being the key word. I haven't posted anything in months. I'm useless when it comes to blogging.

Stress? YES. Goodness. Finals are coming up, and we still have a bunch of summer homework to do, and school starts in 5 days... Ugh. It'll be fine though. We've been studying a lot lately, and we've decided to have a proper study sesh next week.
On a more social note, there's been both drama and stress lately. Jesus. Are you ready for this? I'll just assume you are. And you'll be so happy you're not me. Okay, so this is basically what's going on:
One of my closest friends, Andy, has been crushing on our friend Hanna for months, but after much thought, she turned him down. He's been all depressed and bitter because of it, which in turn kinda freaks us out, cuz he used to be the happiest guy in our crew. (We've suspected several times that he's pretending to be sadder than he really is, for the sake of precious attention. So lame.) He was even talking about quitting his DJ job at one point. We've had so many arguments about this... I can't even. We're all trying to be there for him and cheer him up, but it's like he wants to remain in this dark, bitter state. It pisses me off.

Anyways... me and Hanna know each other from high school, where I was her senpai. She was a junior when I was a senior. (Funny story - we applied to the same school, at the same time, and we never even talked to each other about it. We discovered the crazy coincident after I posted it on facebook. Needless to say, we were shocked.)
About two weeks ago, the drunk teasing/flirting that used to be very innocent and non-serious between her and me suddenly got... a lot more serious. We eventually talked about it and decided to start dating. I'm still shocked. I honestly did not see this coming.
We haven't told Andy about it, cuz he's been doing better lately, and even told me that he's starting to get over Hanna etc... I'm not sure he'll be cool with it. But he's leaving Japan in just a few weeks, and we're wondering if we should be honest about it, or simply let him stay blissfully oblivious.
So yeah. That's what's been going on lately. I swear, it's like I'm living in a soap opera. Crazy.

I don't blame ya for preferring solitude. I used to be a lot like that, and I still have days where I don't want to see anyone, I don't want to talk to anyone... I just want to be alone with my laptop.

Cats are evil beings. That's probably why you don't like them. As soon as they discover the power they have over their owners, they'll walk all over you.

Yes, well... There are a lot of Lynxes in the forests around Bollnäs. Me and my dad used to camp there when I was little. ^^
Ooh, that sounds so cool! You got to pet them and everything?? Awesome. You've mentioned this before? When?

Spuds? Funny word. In Sweden, we sometimes call potatoes "tottar". Stupidest word ever.

I haven't discovered any other foods yet. Well, I suppose I've watched other people eat it, but I haven't had any crazy tasting-experiences yet. I tend to stick to what I know I like, to avoid unpleasant surprises. Hanna is a really good cook though, so I'll probably get to eat new things eventually. She wants to practice Japanese cooking. ^^ She knows how to make curry and stuff. Yummie.

I'll fly back to Sweden in October next year. I'll miss some things, yes. Karaoke. Cheap alcohol. Cheap ciggies. I'll miss my friends, and I'll probably miss Kyoto's culture and people. Everyone's very friendly.
But to be honest, I think I'll be happy to be back in my own country. Where I can talk to everyone, and not having to worry about misunderstandings.
Swedish food =
Swedish television = (Japanese TV sucks. I'm not kidding.)

Soda aint enough for ya? Crazy woman. Soda will always be my weapon of choice, because it gets my victims wet and sticky, and it'll stain their clothes.

LOL, we actually ended up seeing The Amazing Spiderman instead of Naruto! When we got to the cinema, they told us they STILL don't have Road to Ninja, even though Andy called them and asked... So no Naruto yet. I'm sad.
BUT - The Amazing Spiderman totally made up for it. You were right - it's AWESOME!! Soooooooooooooo much better than the Toby-ones. I never liked Toby Maguire. His acting is weird. I mean, Peter Parker is supposed to be a little bit nerdy and awkward, but Toby turned him into a complete and utter DORK. I found myself wanting to do this - - waaay too often. You remember that part in the third movie, when he turns "dark", buys a suit for himself, and starts dancing on the street? The hell was that?! The Amazing Spiderman is so much better in so many ways. Much more believable. I really loved the fact that the new Peter Parker had a proper mourning period for his uncle. Brilliant. I mean, in the Toby ones, he was pissed for about 15 minutes, killed that robber, and then he got over it?! What the hell IS that??

Oooh, yay for good weather! Sounds like you've had a great week! I'm so happy for you. That Sri Lankan curry sounds tasty. Especially combined with the scent of the ocean. Lovely.
Kyoto's weather is pretty good these days. The monsoon season ended a few weeks ago. So we have lots of sun, lots of humidity, and lots of heat. But we've had a few cloudy days this past week, and I'm utterly thrilled because of it. I'm a weird, weird person.

Talk to you soon, my love. I'll look after myself as long as you promise to do the same.

BABY!!

I'm so sorry it took me so long to reply! School is already killing us. It's crazy how much homework we get every day.

Well, I spent my birthday at school (where my classmates actually sang for me ), and afterwards I just went back to my place and relaxed. Not much of a celebration, huh? BUT - the weekend after my birthday, we partied like never before, and people kept buying me drinks all night. One of my new classmates works parttime as a DJ, and he played this really awesome dubstep song in my honor.

I hope everything is okay on your end sweetheart. I miss hanging out at dA and Y!gal! (speaking of which - I still haven't been able to contact the admins, and for some reason, I can't seem to log onto the emailadress I used to register at Y!gal either, so I can't even retrieve my new password.
