The initial drawing and colouring was done in sai.

everything else, the background, textures, glow effects and the emblem were all done in photoshop XD

Oh. Thank goodness. xD Did it take a while for the picture? And how are your lines so...CLEAN? When I draw, I can't seem to get the lines clean, because I don't have a steady hand, so I hafta use small strokes instead of just going along. Plus, erasing only makes it worse. xD

lol thanks but I don't think my lines are very clean. Maybe they only appear so on that picture because I was going for think jagged lines.

I don't have a very steady hand either and do things in short strokes as well. I get around it though by doing different layers for the drawing, like the initial idea sketch then the full sketch and then I refine the line more and use a small brush per layer.

It takes usually about 5 layers lately to get a nice line for me.

as for how long it took me it was one of the quests things I ever did about a week total I think if not just over.

Ohh. Same, but mine never turn out too well. xD i get lazy with coloring too, so my coloring normally sucks. But I do almost the same thing. I'm always editing. Sometimes i'll use the curve tool to help just a bit. To get clean lines, I hafta zoom in closely, then I can do small strokes that are clean.

It takes 5 layers for me to get a FACE. xD

Oh. Jeez. That's some dedication. I only spend at max, 2 hours on drawings because I have low patience. You should do a Jin one though. : D

I can usually only spend 2-3 hours on a drawing in one day sometimes a lot longer.

But I'm a lazy and largely unmotivated person so things usually take me weeks or months to finish.

Days is an achievement.

Yeah, I just can't seem to help myself. ._. At first when I'm zoomed in, I'm all "Oh, yeah, this is nice :3 " then I zoom out to take a look and I'm all "..... -__- /default reaction: ERASE "
I like your colors though Maybe I should go for jagged lines next time, it'll probably make my art look a bit better. But your coloring is good, man. xD

hmm well I do all my flats on separate layers first and then when I'm happy with that I merge it all together.

Then I put in a new layer above that and group it to the colour layer (I think it's clipping on sai) pick a colour you think will work as a good shadow and turn the layer to multiply and then mess around with the occupancy till you got the kind of shadow you want. If the colour you chose isn't working with you mess around with the hue and saturation till your happy.
