Yeah! I really haven't read that much from him (recently, anyway) but I really loved his Cooper Kids and Veritas Project series when I was younger, and Monster is one of my favorite books ever. I haven't read any of his better-known stuff (The Oath, The Visitation, etc.) but he's definitely a talented guy!

Aww yes!! I remember those books too, and I have read the Oath (which was fantastic). Monster also sounded like a brilliant book, and I have it on my library shelf somewhere... Shall have to dig it out Well. That is, once I've finished reading the textbooks for my uni session...

No problem! I was looking through some of my old KotOR art last night and came across a piece that you had commented on and we'd had a very pleasant conversation about the game and computer systems and whatnot so I decided to hunt you down!

I love some of the armor designs in your sketches!

Haha, thanks! Armour's such a pain to do, but it looks so awesome in the end result. Always nice catching up with somebody after however-long! ^^

Fischmeister4 In reply to Keldae [2014-08-04 05:45:57 +0000 UTC]

Right? I've been in a KotOR mood lately too (hence the reason I was looking through all my old stuff) but I've got so much to do there's no way I'll have time to play.

And hey, you like Firefly and Sherlock and ASoIaF and Skillet and RED, in addition to the obvious Star Wars / KotOR! So you must be pretty cool

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Keldae In reply to Fischmeister4 [2014-08-04 17:45:51 +0000 UTC]

KOTOR is awesome! I need to replay it again, and only partially because Darth Revan's costume is on my list of cosplays to build... of course, that'll be AFTER I play through the new restored-content mod of KOTOR II, and Mass Effect I/II, and Assassin's Creed, and all the other games I got talked into buying during the Steam sales... Steam is so bad for my wallet. XD

Hey, I like to think I'm pretty all right. (but seriously, SQUEE! finding other people who like the same stuff I do! )

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Fischmeister4 In reply to Keldae [2014-08-04 19:16:49 +0000 UTC]

Oh man. Oh man. You'll LOVE Mass Effect You'll definitely want to invest in the third one at some point but it's only available through Origin (still totally worth it though!). I bought the first and second ones during Steam Sales a couple of years ago and am currently in the middle of my 4th playthrough of the trilogy. It's amaaaaazing. Assassin's Creed is also a fantastic series - I worked my way through all six games last fall/winter and it definitely ranks right up there with Mass Effect and KotOR as a favorite franchise. Oh and Portal. You can never go wrong with Portal

But yes Steam is killer on the wallet I'm fairly limited in terms of what games my computer can run so a lot of the time I see a brand new game on there and even though I can't run it, I'm tempted to buy it anyway because it's so cheap, and the beauty of Steam is that you'll always have the game in your library and could always install it on a new computer if you got one.... *sigh* the temptation...

Keldae In reply to Fischmeister4 [2014-08-04 21:50:39 +0000 UTC]

I know!! I started playing MEI and I do like it (brings me back to KOTOR, but without the lightsabers. Ahhh, nostalgia...), I've just not had time enough to play recently with moving across the country and job-hunting and Darth Life. Graaaaawr. Haha, I cleaned up during the summer sales this year- also got Tomb Raider and Portal (I already had Portal 2. I have this unfortunate habit of reading/watching/playing the sequels before the originals. See also: KOTOR, Transformers...). Oddly enough, the only Steam game that I've played and NOT loved was Skyrim. I think I'll have to try it again though, if only so I can keep up with my brothers (who've been bitten by the bug XD). I've been meaning to get into AC for a while now too, mostly because I do cosplay as a hobby and I got inspired by a buddy of mine to make one of the costumes from the early games. I swear, cosplay and all things inspiring thereof are going to be the death of me and my wallet one day. XD (like the two Jedi costumes I have, the Atton Rand costume that's halfway done, the Revan costume that I WILL be building someday....)

I know, same here! I think the best game I can run (that I've tried, anyway) is SWTOR and World of Warcraft, and they ran okay which was good (that said, I haven't had SWTOR crash my computer badly from overheating in a while, so yay!). I miss last summer when my roommate let me play on his desktop though... Skyrim was preeeeetty on there. XD

Fischmeister4 In reply to Keldae [2014-08-04 22:35:17 +0000 UTC]

Yeah it's weird because ME3 (released in 2012) runs fine on my computer but AC1 (released in... 2007?) is super laggy and weird. But then SWTOR runs fine too, so I'm wondering if there's some sort of difference in the development that just allows BioWare stuff to run more smoothly I finally invested in a refurbished Xbox so I can play some of the games I haven't been able to play on the computer, so that's how I ended up playing all the AC games. I've got Tomb Raider and Skyrim too but haven't had a chance to play them yet (I have a whole stack of new games I've never played but I keep going back and just replaying all my old favorites ). Mirror's Edge is another good one.

Keldae In reply to Fischmeister4 [2014-08-05 18:37:39 +0000 UTC]

Hmmm. Weird. I know for the longest time I could never get KOTOR II to run on any of my computers (and OH, the months of frustration trying to download the bloody game on dial-up-slow college Internet!), but happily it works now (and, oddly, glitches less than my Steam copy of KOTOR I does. I'ma have to get back into that one and see if I can figure out what's up with that. >.>). Oooooh, nice! I'm not a console gamer at ALL (mostly because trying to lug a console about when I lived in a dorm was a pain in the neck!), so all my games are on PC (and you have no idea how miffed I am that the Legend of Zelda games aren't on Steam. GRAWR.), which is immensely helpful. It'll be even better when I can eventually upgrade my computer. XD I know- I still have a dozen brand-new games to get through from Steam, but Age of Empires and Battle for Middle-earth were my CHILDHOOD and they're always fun to play! XD (especially since I've acquired a new mod for AoE II that's Middle-earth off of Steam, which I REALLY need to play multiplayer I think....)

Hi. So, there's a person stealing your art. More specifically, the Effie Trinket thing you did a while ago. They may have stolen more of it, I don't know, but the first thing I saw was this. This is on G+, but I just wanted to let you know.
Here's a link to her profile:
plus.google.com/u/0/1082289662…
I'm sorry for troubling you, but I just wanted to make sure you knew, in case you didn't. This person has stolen lots of other art, but I saw this first, so I just wanted to let you know (as I've said many times before).

Fischmeister4 In reply to TheEaglefeather [2014-07-01 20:14:37 +0000 UTC]

*sigh* Hey thanks a bunch for letting me know! After stalking their profile, I wasn't able to find my specific drawing, but judging by the varying styles of the other "drawings" the person has posted, I would guess that the majority of them are stolen. That's one thing that kills me the most about people who steal art, and the people who think they actually drew it for that matter. They post all these different styles that look nothing alike and they're like "hey I drew all this!!1!" and I'm just wondering how stupid someone can possibly be...

Ugh. Thanks again for letting me know. I'll see what I can do to report them.

Fischmeister4 In reply to TheEaglefeather [2014-07-02 03:27:19 +0000 UTC]

I found the owners of some of the other stolen art and have been trying to alert them to the problem. Since a lot of the art is Hunger Games related, I also informed the moderators of some of dA's big THG groups.

Just out of curiosity, how did you happen to stumble across my piece?

TheEaglefeather In reply to Fischmeister4 [2014-07-02 15:36:05 +0000 UTC]

I'm not a good artist, but I'm on a few art communities on G+, and someone there was trying to alert people to this person's art theft. I checked out her profile and found that she owns an art community. I scrolled through the community, and most of the stuff on there was art she'd stolen. Eventually, I found the Effie Trinket piece. I'd seen it before, and I knew you were the artist, and I knew I had to at least let you know. I didn't know the other artists specifically, but I'm going to try to alert them.

Fischmeister4 In reply to TheEaglefeather [2014-07-02 16:54:53 +0000 UTC]

Well thanks again. I left comments on a few of the stolen art pieces just trying to show other members of the community that they were stolen, and I got a response back from someone today acknowledging that yes, people are starting to realize they're stolen. So at least people are becoming aware of the issue, and at this point that's really all you can ask for

Ugh people are ridiculous. It's almost hard to even be mad because I'm just so stunned by how stupid people can be

You're welcome, and once again, it's the least I could do. And I totally know what you mean. It's really obvious that those pieces were stolen. A few of my friends and I have started an Art Theft Prevention community on G+, and we're hoping we can make a meaningful difference.

Fischmeister4 In reply to TheEaglefeather [2014-07-02 19:26:04 +0000 UTC]

What a great idea! Yeah the art community in general is usually pretty good about spotting stolen work and calling the thief out on it in a very short period of time. I wish you and your friends the best of luck!
