Well, I'm still waiting for my exam results for New Irish, but I scored quite well in Old Irish during the last semester, and both languages are great!

What a lovely comment!! Thank you so very much! As for your request about favourite locations, oops, don't get me started girl!! That would be a volume the size of the entire Harry Potter series!!

It all depends on where you will be in Ireland, what part are you planning to visit? In the west I would recommend Connemara an the Burren, in the North I am very fond of Donegal, in the South it is the Beara peninsula and in the east the Wicklow mountains of course. But that is only a first. There is so very much more to see. E.g. the Midlands!!

Anyway, let me know where you plan to stay and I can give you more tips.

Honestly, I haven't a clue as to exactly where I'll be staying! I'm hoping to go for at least two weeks if I can manage it.

I know I have to see the Cliffs of Moher, which if in County Clare, if I'm not mistaken. And even though it's very touristy I still want to visit The Blarney Castle in Cork.

Other than that, I'm really just interested in places that aren't very packed with people. I want to see Ireland as it is every day. I want to meet it's people and experience life as the Irish do. Of course I'm interested in the castles and the beautiful landscapes, too!

Please, DON'T do Moher!!! I plead against Moher!!!
It has been commercialised to absurd proportions recently. You even have to pay admission fees now!! For something nature has put there!! How insane is that!!! Moher is not nice anymore, you have to walk up by a designated pathway, you can't get close to the edge anymore, it is crawling with merchants, and packed with tourists. Moher is soooooooo overrated!!!!

There are cliffs in Ireland that are higher, more spectacular and far, far, far, FAR less touristic. You have the Slieve League in co. Donegal (2nd highest sea cliffs in Europe, 601 meters above the sea), and you have the cliffs of Croaghaun (highest sea cliffs in Europe, 621 meters above sea) on Achill Island in co. Mayo. Achill Island is a must see anyway, since you speak about experiencing Ireland the Irish way, and not the touristic way!! I will gladly be your tour guide by the way. I know those places you want to visit.

Oh thank you so much for letting me know. I had no idea at all how it was. I never imagined it was so commercialized. That is insane. I imagine it's sorta like the Grand Canyon here, I think it's been commercialized a lot in the past few years. It's really sad how people find a way to get money out of things Mother Nature gave us for free.

It's good to know that there are other spots where I can experience the views without worrying about having people in the way.

Ha, I might just take you up on that offer if I actually get to travel there. It's supposed to be my highschool graduation present. My mom was going to go with me, but she doesn't think she'll have the time off from work. Now it's all about trying to find a "tour" that isn't too touristy and allows me free time. And convincing my best friends parents to allow her to go with me.

Moher is only 217 meters above the sea, so nothing special there, that is 1/3rd of the other two I mentioned. I don't even understand the Moher hype. But I guess that is commerce and clever marketing.

I hope you can achieve what you wish for, and can take your friend. If so, let me know, if you DO end up in Co. Clare, Galway or Mayo, rest assured that I will take you on a little tour I love showing people the 'real' Ireland, whatever that may be, cause Ireland is changing of course. Still there are many authentic and genuine places to visit
