I see.....well, so much better and time saving for the photographer!!!!! LOL I did take a picture of one in the Chicago tour we did at Thanksgiving, did a few manips with it...one is [link] and the base pic I did for that one is here [link] and then since all my work is on Opera and only some here on DA I shall show you the blend I used that bird plus a wildcat of some kind in and my daughter and her family posing in the butterfly chair at the oh, I think it was called Museum of natural History, or maybe not, anyway it has a butterfly house... [link] hope you enjoy! wish I could visit where you took all those grand shots!!!

thank you! only been at it less than 2 years with PaintDotNet and a bit with Photoshop 7 for the brushes or actions if I do any. retired, disabled with arthritis, an old ICU/Open Heart nurse, so art was the last thing in my mind BUT I have always been an image junkie. so, lots and lots to learn yet, looking at all the wonders on DA it is helping and i hope to get CS6 on subscription at 31USD a month very soon...I tried it as beta version and liked it.

Hehe nice. I use PS elements 4.0 when I work on images. It's an old program but my comp can't handle the newer versons. I have all drawn art on ~chili19 and only like one photomanip...which I hate.

Does ps elements do layers by any chance? cuz I 'm fixin to get a subscription month by month with adobe store for PS CS6 only 31 USD a month, which I can handle on my pension. I have PS7 like I said, getting better at it but can't seem to do the simple tasks I do very frequently with PaintDotNet on PS7 - can[t seem to put an image onto something, can't magic wand an area of color and delete it and make it transparent, can't make something partially transparent, in other words, I can't read or watch tutorials. I have zilch for attention span unless I am working on a pic or typing or sometimes, reading a book. but I can't get through tuts. I even bought 3 PS7 BOOKS, actual hold in your hand books, can't crack 'em for more than 5 minets at a time how you spell minits? dang, can't even think anymore. so getting organized to credit, notify, upload correctly is a big big challenge here on DA for me. I don't sweat PS7, just use for brushes and actions. Now i did trial CS6 beta, and it seemed to work better for me, I was able to access afew more things, but still had to go back and do things in PaintDotNet, which supports psd files. oh well, best get back to these comments....kat

Yes. Elemets is made specificaly for image/photo editing. While you can draw on it and such it's main focus is photo editing unlike other photoshop programs.

but no layers, right? I think my best bet, since PaintDotNet is so familiar to me but does tend to have a short life till it crashes so I have to save frequently and then close frequently to clean the cache and scratchdisc spaces, best bet is the subscription plan with CS6 I tried and liked. easier to me that 5.5 I tried first and didn't like. was surprised I liked CS6 beta, so will get the subscription. can at least work on psd files in paint.net if I get stuck and go back and forth.

in elements you can have layers yes. Like in all photoshop programs, only this one is more angled toward photo editing and don't have as many brushes or other stuff pure drawing programs have

ok, have CS6 now, will need to figure out how to do my most common PaintDotNet actions quickly in it so I don't have to toggle back and forth. Been busy bein' outside lately, weather here in Michigan nice to sit outside, where I can't seem to see the screen on the laptop, but instead see the sky and birds etc!
