It won't play on my machine; Sims 2 requires DirectX version 9.0c and my OS uses version 11. And since I uninstalled Sims 3, I'm currently playing Sims Medieval, which is a lot different than the other Sims games but enjoyable nonetheless.

Sims 4 has a CAS demo available to some (supposedly to everybody eventually) which I'll probably take a look at, but as far as I'm concerned the game is DOA.

The reinstall took about three hours. A quick test showed that the graphics are flawless and that the game has no setting for a screen as large as mine. The next size down is the same proportion, which is working fine. SimPE and the Clean Installer are up and running, Homecrafter is in place, all my downloads and creations are located (over 30 GB total!), and the InSIMenator and two score other mods are ready to go. All kind of exciting, actually. Now I just have to figure out whether I want to pick up where I left off five years ago with my old save files or start something new. Decisions, decisions...

I still hate EA.

Waiting patiently for Sims 4.

Also waiting patiently for water service to be restored here. The town is doing road work two blocks from me and about seven hours ago they hit a water pipe. The intersection was completely flooded. No idea when they'll have it fixed.

I got tired of any new Sims versions coming out. I have a hell lot of fun with 2 and sometimes 3. I have most of the CN crew in Sims 2: University, and my own characters in 3. That's fine for me.

I'm currently playing nothing but OC's in Sims 3; no cartoon characters, no celebrities, no real people, at least for now. Might do something with an animated character or two in the near future, though. I'm just happy that the game crashes less than it used to.

EA recently released some pics of the Sims 4 versions of Mortimer and Bella Goth:

I never played them in the game's earlier versions so I'm not going gaga over them like everyone on MTS has.

I never played them either They look fine, I think - but I still think the game is turning into a movie. In The Sims 2, it was still well-balanced...

I rarely played any of the Sims 2 premades other than the Veronaville families. Hard to believe how much time and energy the Monty and Capp families spent beating the crap out of each other. I'd create an OC Sim, move him into the neighborhood, and if the Welcome Wagon included a Monty and a Capp, a fight was virtually guaranteed, leaving my poor Sim to wonder what kind of neighborhood he'd moved into. Of course, the Pleasant girls were even worse but that's another story.

Part of the Sims 3's problems is that EA didn't seen to give a lot of thought to integrating new expansions (and new worlds from the store) with what was already present. Everything works but a lot of it doesn't really feel connected to the rest, if that makes any sense. The world I'm currently playing, Midnight Hollow, is a good example; despite being released long after Ambitions, the designers made no real provisions for players to add Ambitions-specific lots to the world. Same with other expansions. The Island Paradise expansion is even worse; you can't use some of it's main features in earlier worlds without a hell of a lot of work. Hopefully EA will put a little more forethought into expansions for Sims 4 but given their track record, I'm not hopeful.

In Sims 3 The Welcome Wagon is easy to avoid; I just send my Sim to the park for an hour or two. In Sims 2 I either use a no-WW mod or just put up with the pests until they leave.

I think the game reached its peak with The Sims 2, as the player still had to PLAY, but the Sims had their own thoughts and wishes as well. The Sims 3 is already a bit over the edge for me. I meant to ask, would you still be interested in The Sims 2 if I sent you pics, or is that too old-fashione for you?

In movie-ness and "oh, just leave it to the AI"! I'd like to PLAY my Sims, tyvm, and the way I want it, tyvm again. I don't want them doing whatever they please while I play another home and whatnot.

Ah, okay. There's a mod for that; it disables aging and story progression for the non-active households. I use it, although I don't use those particular functions.

Planning to add the cast of Johnny Test, perchance?

Probably just as well, it's regarded as one of the worst cartoons that CN has ever inflicted on us. Gravity Falls is really good but yeah, I seldom watch much of anything on TV these days. I get plenty of entertainment from the game, the web, and DVD's though so I don't really miss it.
