well avatars can only be 50 x 50 in pixels and no larger than 15 kb it can be animated but again u have to make sure its within the file size allowed
once you have avatar ready click the pull down by your name then click on edit settings and then click identity.
Browse to where u have it on your computer and upload it and then scroll down and click ok it sometimes takes a bit of time to show but it will soon enough.
