Oh no problem. I love 1776... or at least the Lees of Old Virginia scene anyway (not too sure about that number where they keep singing about "too many flies, too many flies.").

Oh no problem! Thank YOU ever so for drawing what I think may be the only piece of Mayor of Casterbridge Art out there.
Not enough people know about that novel, do they?

It's true, those Thomas Hardy books don't get a lot of love from the fanart world, do they?Β In some ways, that's not the worst thing ever, but in other ways it's a shame more people aren't reading these awesome books!Β I agree, not enough people know about this one.

So very true. I'm actually starting to draft what I think may be the only Mayor of Casterbridge fanfic on the internet!

And by the way, thanks for watching too!Β More arts on the way.
(Though few of them in the immediate forefront of my mind are Hardy-related... but we shall see!)

I'm thinking of starting with retelling the story from the viewpoint of either Susan or Elizabeth Jane. Haven't decided yet.
After that, however, I have a rather interesting fan theory regarding one of the lesser characters that crosses over with another victorian novel that is much more well known than Casterbridge.

Innnnteresting.Β I'm not really one for fanfiction generally, but a good crossover can be kind of fun to think about.

Some have perpetuated the fan theory that all the Shakespeare characters are different generations of the same family. Going with that basic idea, I have this fan theory that a lot of the characters from British novels of the Victorian period are related.
In this crossover fanfic I am working on (that is, if it ever progresses beyond a barely-started word document) it is revealed that a minor character from The Mayor of Casterbridge is an estranged relative of one of the main characters of Sweeney Todd (which started out as a novel called A String of Pearls... just throwin it out there).

That is an interesting theory, I haven't heard of it before (then again, I'm not really involved with the Shakespeare fan community much at all).Β It makes sense with a lot of classic English literature though!Β So many of them seem pretty similar in style and society, that kind of theory seems not that far-fetched.
