Yes, they are. They're extinct since about 27,500 years ago. They lived in Europe during the Pleistocene, which is the world's recent period of repeated glaciations.
Animals which lived back then were woolly mammoths, cave lions, woolly rhinoceros and, of course, cave bears among other creatures like our ancestors, Homo Erectus, next to the Neanderthal Man.
