It sounds like they have the same personality. LOL I will just draw them happy or something.

Hard-Color is where all or almost all the colors are at 100% opacity. Soft-Color is where all colors keep changing opacity levels depends on how it was drawn and what pressure it was drawn on.

In other words:
Hard-Color = Drawn With Pen/Markers
Soft-Color =  Drawn With Pencils
