Awesome! I will defiantly send you a picture when I get it done. I would like it to sit on my shoulder/back would I need to alter the wings for it to look right do you think?

Not sure to be honest? I changed it because I was getting it right in the middle of my back and it just looked a little too narrow (a bit too straight up and down)so I extended the wings so it would go more across my shoulders. Depending on the size you could I suppose make the flame tail a little smaller or narrower (the opposite of what I did with the wings)so it didn't throw out the perspective? If you speak to your tattoo artist they'll give you good advice about what would look best, size, position, etc. Good luck!

Tattoos hurt, there's no point in saying it doesn't but, it depends on your pain threshold, where you're getting it done, how long it'll take, etc., etc., For me personally, the worst part was the outline, once that's done it's relatively straight forward. The easy part of getting this tattoo is it was just outline, fill in and that was it, no shading and it only took an hour and a half (and that for the size you see in the picture)and from what you say you'll be getting something a bit smaller than that.
Drink plenty of fluids beforehand (not so much you need to keep going to the loo obviously) and make sure you've had something to eat. If you feel it'll help, your tattooist would normally have a cream that can numb the area being tattooed, explain to him/her before they start how you feel and they'll explain it all for you. If they're good they'll understand and do what's best for you. At the end of the day they don't want you to have a bad experience, they want you to keep coming back and recommending them to friends so they'll do everything they can to make it good for you. Don't be afraid to ask! Also you might feel better if you listen to your ipod if the sounds of the gun buzzing away upsets you, it sounds daft but think happy thoughts and it makes it so much more enjoyable, and you'll be back for more. Honestly, it's not half as bad as some people would have you believe, it's actually quite enjoyable in a strange way. You'll be fine, listen to your artist, they know the score and they'll keep you right!

Thanks for the advice. I got it done yesterday, not at all as painful as I expected. I am so proud of myself. My tattoo artist really loved your design! I told him about you and this deviant art website. I am trying to figure out how to send you a picture

Well done you! Getting over your nerves is always the hardest part but once you're in the chair it's not that bad. Strangely it's quite enjoyable. To upload your picture just save it to your PC/Laptop and then click on the submit button just next to your message count across the top and then just follow the prompts. Can't wait to see how it turned out?
