Hello, welcome to DA!
When I first joined, I didn't know how to get started with digital, either, and spent a lot of time on DA Muro like you're using. I soon came to realize that DeviantArt's built-in drawing program was pretty much just a formality (it's rather inhibiting), and so began the search for a drawing program. A good program is important so that you can utilize it to its full potential, you're gonna want to find a drawing application to download onto your computer itself. I recommend MediBang or FireAlpaca as both are free and similar to expensive drawing applications used by professionals.
Keep on drawing, the path of an artist is an exciting one! All of the incredible artists out there that we admire all started from the very beginning, anybody can be like them as long as they're dedicated, nobody is born a Picasso. You don't suck, you're just starting out!

I draw each picture by hand. Then scan them into my Paint Shop Pro. Its crude pixel stuff, but I've got a following.
