sorry a drug is any substance that affects the body,, pot is by definition a drug,, being organic or natural does not eliminate it's effects,, just as 'shrooms and peyote are drugs, also straight from nature ( oh and I am a smoker as well,, even if I am going to be rather limited for a while--just got busted and have to go through a darned drug program with all the UAs and stuff

my friend works in a hotel and there are americans there who smoke weed
over there, and talk all big and smoking pure. NEVER smoke dutch weed pure if your not from
here... ours is MUCH stronger, they pass out or have a bad trip, wacko's.
You are def wrong about it not being habit forming. Then why are several of my friends seriously addicted? Its not a phycical addiction but more of a mental addiction.
This is from a dutch site about weed. I find it a good cause you are fighting for, but you must know what weed really is, a drug.
---------------------------------
Health risks
Cannabis has harmful effects on health, paranoia and panic attacks can cause long-term cognitive functions and psychomotor disrupted by consumption. Also short term memory loss can occur. This can happen especially at high dosage. Cannabis can also have a demotivating influence, even a few days after the effective use. It can also revive latent mental diseasis. (Bad translation= Assuming that the use of cannabis during a luxury (= war) may have a latent psychosis, or hallucinations may call that may be related to rare side effects of medication, such as Enalapril). It is often assumed that long-term (more than 2 years) cannabis use can give impetus to psychosis and schizophrenia in people with predisposition to these diseases.
People who are depressed or have other serious mental disorder or highly sensitive people, the use of cannabis may have a negative effect and strengthen existing complaints.
Negative side effects of regular use of cannabis are at increased risk of cancer, respiratory problems (specifically for the smoking of cannabis, absent in oral administration) and psychological dependence with regular use.
It is possible to use behavioral testing risks. Hence, we find or use in a risky manner, or that such use is just recreational. Cannabis addiction brings risks.

We agree with everything you just listed. We still however, are not going to label a plant as a drug. It is fact, that those are the side effects of cannabis. And yes, we are also aware that some herb... like that of the dutch, can have a higher level of thc in the plant than compared to some strains from the United States. The amount of thc in the plant really all depends on the strain and the techniques of the grower. There are strains in America, that will "put you on your ass" just as good as in the Netherlands.
As far as SERIOUSLY addicted, like you say...
According to the IOM, observable cannabis withdrawal symptoms are rare and have only been identified under unique patient settings. These remain limited to adolescents in treatment facilities for substance abuse problems, and in a research setting where subjects were given marijuana or THC daily. Compared with the profound physical syndrome of alcohol or heroin withdrawal, marijuana-related withdrawal symptoms are mild and subtle. Symptoms may include restlessness, irritability, mild agitation and sleep disruption. However, for the overwhelming majority of marijuana smokers, these symptoms are not severe enough to re-initiate their use of cannabis.
According to the U.S. Institute of Medicine (IOM), fewer than one in 10 marijuana smokers become regular users of the drug, and most voluntary cease their use after 34 years of age.

Hehe, I also agree with what YOU say, and ofcourse,
it isn't like meth or cocaine or whatever, but still.
I smoke a joint once in a while like some one enjoys a good
glass of wine (i dont drink!). But some smoke a whole lot more, or
drink a whole lot more, and it seriously affects your life one way or the other.
I am comparing this to drinking because people don't really know the dangers of booze.
Same with weed. Just do it with moderation and use your head!!
