And then some people just can't take criticism at all. When they can't accept that there are people out there who will not appreciate their art, they should either disable comments (because they'll get those criticism anyway) or learn NOT to respond to those critics at all and just take them for what they are : just someone saying what they think and that's it.

People can't guess if a certain artist gets touchy if a negative point of an art is mentionned. People can't know what ticks an artist off in a comment. People can't wear gloves, get into a bubble contraption and install cushioned walls whenever they're writing a comment "because they might offend someone if they write such and such in such a way". There would be no end to it, and all honesty and truth would be gone. Agreed, tact and common sense are the usual prerequisite, but criticism doesn't have to include ego-stroking all the time. Perhaps you could tell me what criticism "in a civilised way" means to you?
