Ya, you can either zip your map files and then upload it to deviantart, or you can put the zipped folder on a file sharing site like dropbox, googledrive etc. and then put the link in the description of your deviation.

Hey AlphaRose, I am not quite sure what you mean. Are you asking that, if you download and use one of my heightmaps and use it in one of /your/ maps, is it okay to upload it here?

If that is what you mean, then of course. Just ensure to add credit in the description of your deviation.

Hey Gen, would it be possible for you to tell me some of the ice meshes used in the Melandru Mountains? Or could you upload them?

I am making a Skyrim map on FeralHeart, and I cant find any good meshes.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Genesis199 In reply to InfiniteDeaths [2015-04-07 02:51:47 +0000 UTC]

Hey there,

When making the Mountains of Melandru map, I actually couldn't find any good Ice meshes either so I made my own. All of those snow and ice meshes inside that map were re-textured rocks.

Unfortunatly I do not have those meshes or textures anymore, but it's simple enough to do. Just try to find some snow or ice ground textures, re purpose them for use on regular meshes, and then add them to whatever rock meshes you can find.

Hope this helps, and good luck on your map.

Hey gen i was wondering what meshes you used for the Light rays and the Nests in your maps.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Genesis199 In reply to AkD-Productions [2015-03-06 09:07:42 +0000 UTC]

Hey there,

Those beams of light were made by using the 'glow' Particle that is used on objects like the Fluorite Crystal mesh. To get it, you can open up the Fluorite crystal- then just delete the crystal mesh and you're left with the glow.

I found a neat glow pack on the FH forums, and I used the yellow glow and stretched it out to make a bunch of beams of light.

As for the nests, I found those in a WoW Mesh pack on the FH forums as well. I don't have the links for these unfortunately. (I've been told the WoW meshes have been taken down, but just looking around google might turn something up, or playing with the Particles and meshes yourself)

Hope this helps,
Cheers!

Do you do Map Requests? I have a Small map I need done. I cant find any height maps to make it. When I make a Height Map it crashes everytime I type the Terrain in the Map Maker. I thought it would be easier to just have someone make the map for me xD

I have a set of tutorials that you can find in my gallery if you're looking for some instruction on how to make them. Otherwise I'd suggest looking at other tutorials you can find on youtube and here on DA in the Feral Heart groups, like Feral Heart University, they have pretty much every tutorial imaginable for the game there.

Hi Genesis I'm having trouble in retexturing my objects.
I've done what I was told to but still nothing.
I made a rockTex7 but when I type it in object maker it says it can't be found.
I think I'm doing something wrong.
Please can you maybe guide me through it?
Thanks

Hey Angel500,

Sorry for the late reply, I had just gone away on vacation for a week when you sent this comment e0e

I don't know if you've managed to figure it out by now, but if not I'd be happy to help out.

If the editor is telling you it cannot find your texture it's probably because the texture you've made is not in the correct folder. The FH editor needs it to be in this folder;

Feral Heart > Media > Terrains > Textures

There you'll find all the default textures like african grass, black, snow etc.

Another problem could be the /type/ of file you're trying to load. The FH editor needs it to be a flattened image, .jpg. So files with multiple layers will not fly (like photoshop, gimp, sai, etc.)

Hopefully this helps!

Also I should mention, some objects have more than one Texture slot to them.

This is a bit more advanced, but I thought it was worth mentioning. Many objects- like rocks, ferns, grass- only have one texture. But more complex meshes will have more than one, and likewise require more textures to complete the effect.

Take the Acacia tree for example. You will have two textures needed for that, the bark, and the leaves. You can retexture both and create an ashen tree, with black bark and grey leaves- or even make a crystal tree by applying the crystal tex. to both the leave slot and the bark slot.

Genesis199 In reply to AmythestAngelWolf [2015-03-06 09:12:55 +0000 UTC]

Re-texturing objects is very similar to creating your own ground textures, think as the floor of a map an object and you'll see what I mean.

Likewise, the same rules apply- you need to make sure your file's a .jpg and the correct size- the only difference is the file location, and that will vary.

If you're texturing a rock for example, I always saved my rock textures (that I used for things like the purple, burning rocks in Verto) in Feral Heart> media > objects > rocks.

Being organized and sorting everything into the correct place will defiantly save time later on. For Misc. objects, save your textures into Feral Heart> media >objects > my_objects.

That's all there is to re-texturing objects, it's pretty simple once you know what to do.

Salutations Genesis, I'm in the process of creating a new map, and I recall in your The Underworld map, you had the guillotine, and it was solid, in which the player's character didn't go thru, and I'm havig a bit trouble for a while now of how to make the guillotine I'm placing in my map solid. Any tips on how to make objects solid and make them not 'blank'? <3

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Genesis199 In reply to PinkFury007 [2015-02-17 07:56:47 +0000 UTC]

Hello there,
What you're talking about is something called 'Collision'. Collision refers to an object either being solid in the game or ghostlike- in which you can walk right through it.

You can actually edit weather or not certain objects have collision in the game quite easily, all you need to do is open up the Mesh in the Object Maker inside the tools mode.

Open up the object you wish to add collision to- then go up to the MESH tab. At the very top, there will be a little checkbox there that says 'Own Collision". Check that, then Save the object.

Another way to add collision to something without using Own Collision is giving it a collision box or sphere, which can be created in the 'collision' tab. These boxes cannot be seen in game- but you cannot go through them either. They're used for helping to cut down lag, for they use up less memory than giving a mesh full collision. But if you're just using it on an object that will be used not sparingly, such as a guillotine, it shouldn't be a problem.

Hope this helps!

Hello-ness, I apologize if this is a bit random...

But if you recall, I'm the person with the idea for the 'cherry blossoms blowing in the wind' weather thing. I actually managed to do that, and it's working out well, but that's aside from the point.

I'm working on a svannah map, and was hoping you could give some tips?... I mean, they're so flat, Β so I haven't much flexibility as detail in the height-map goes, and because they only have so many plants (Scrubland and grassland, so mainly just bushes and grass.) I'm not very abled there either.

I'd cover the whole thing in grass and call that acceptable detail, but the only sort of grass I have is green.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Genesis199 In reply to GallusVarius [2015-01-14 00:55:28 +0000 UTC]

Thankfully, my memory spans more than a day so yes, I remember you quite well haha. Glad to hear you got it working!

As for this map of yours, my advice would be to not make your map 100% Savannah. African plains and other similar maps are pretty common on FH, so I'd suggest maybe only having a certain part of your map as a Savannah and maybe throw in some other terrain in there, like an Oasis or a gorge. Maybe the plains could give way into a desert of rolling hills, there is a lot you can do with the map and I wouldn't recommend just making it flat. Flat might be realistic, but it's not very interesting to look at, or explore.

As for the grass, if you recall I mentioned how to texture your own objects? You can just take your current grass jpg file and colour tone it any way you want. You can make dry, light brown grass, lush green grass, grey grass anything really. I think there is also a good Wheat mesh somewhere around the FH forums. Not something you'd find on a Savanah but it's great for quickly filling up large field areas.

GallusVarius In reply to Genesis199 [2015-01-14 01:04:39 +0000 UTC]

I do have some 'marshland,' and a watering hole.

However, as for a gorge and desert, those are already found on other parts of this map-pack. Β  I do know, savannas do sometimes have hills, but because of their rarity, some are named like mountains. Β  They also have the occasional boulder or outcropping of rocks, which I also intend to use, and craters. Hills, craters, rivers, a watering hole, a beach, a marsh, and a few hills compose the height map.Β

I tried to mess around with the grass thing, but I couldn't figure out how to get it to change texture... Like, I mean, to use the png file I want it to use. Β  How come I'm able to turn a raging snow storm into cherry blossoms on the breeze, and yet not be able to change the color of grass? Β  Β I guess we all have specialties, or somethin' like that...
