# About me
'Ello. I'm Caitlin and this is obviously my Deviant page. I'm a soon to be senior in high school and I'm really into photography. I hope you like my photos. I'd have to say that I love film and all that goes along with making prints in that fashion. I also like b&w over color because to me b&w require more thought to them because you can't just take a picture for its pretty colors. To me, it takes more skill.Current Residence: Alaska

No problem! Cats are great subjects for pictures, they're really expressive.

Even those cats are expressive. I don't really like the ones that always look pissed off.

No problem! It's a great picture. I love how animals can still express emotion even though a lot of people don't think so. The cheetah cub kinda reminded me of my sisters cat. She's very expressive.

Thanks again!! Yeah, it's funny that people don't think that animals have emotions... maybe not the same as us, but it seems (to me at least) that they do.
I have 2 cats, and they are extremely expressive also... especially when they want to let you know that they are done being pet.

Lol! That sounds like it could be painful...
But I think animals have emotions. You see them all the time. Like, dogs can smile.

Oh wow! I didn't know that picture was in film. That's pretty amazing. I've only ever done b&w film. Color film seems like it's really complicated to develop and make your own prints. ><

yea i have it on 120 E6 film... shot with my AD645 i had to translate it into digital for most prints... that one was of an old cafe that i worked at called the frozen monkey in HOB NJ... it was the best on of the set... really need to find out the artist it went to...

That's a funny name for a cafe. And that seems like a lot of work. ><

WGEstrella3113 In reply to GizmodoDragon [2010-01-26 06:35:31 +0000 UTC]
yea it's a funny name but it fits the atmosphere, and, meh not really, just knowing where to put the flash with a home made zoom, gobo some spill, then shoot, i user a timer on the camera at f/22 for 10" with the bulb from the lamp flickering at a steady .15 seconds (screwing an average light bulb for the lamp being a 65 watt bulb) one and three quarters the way lose using gravity to pull it to flicker in such away) the light it self is captured at two third of a stop off... hence what makes the lamp look in such a way. the color itself was accomplished because of the zoom and my math on flash distance... then again that painting was just rich of color... and it really made the shot

GizmodoDragon In reply to WGEstrella3113 [2010-01-26 23:44:43 +0000 UTC]
That sounds like it took a lot of planning before you actually went to take the shot. I'm afraid I'm not so good at the really math-y technical part of photography. >< I'd think the 10" exposure would be a bit long but I guess that cafe is really dimly lit.

WGEstrella3113 In reply to GizmodoDragon [2010-01-27 01:29:41 +0000 UTC]
actually i'm pretty quick with it, it took about three minutes to figure it out and set it up... it's really quite simple when you know how light reacts and how your camera captures. as for the 10 it was a f/22 shot so it was very limited ambient really especially with only that one light bulb flickering, so it only affected the lamp itself, as the painting and table where lit by a key flash, there is slight ambient light to it but i made sure it wasn't enough to effect the shot... that orange glow sucks when you arent shooting for it...

Well, you're on your way to a decade too. I've been seriously shooting for about a year. But I don't know too much. >< And I don't get the opportunity to go shooting very often.

me either, i have been on a long hiatus since i lost the majority of my work, we both really should get out there more... cause a photographer without a camera is just a person with fleeting memories...

You lost majority of your work? D: How depressing. I have the camera, I just don't get out often...and no one will cooperate to pose. Scenery here is like you've seen one picture, you've seen them all.

i find that hard to believe about the scenery... and if no one is willing to pose, start doing self portraits

Idk. Alaska' pretty much trees, mountains, and ocean. It's hard to do self portraits cause you're limited. I have a DSLR soo it's kinda hard to do self portraits. And our tripod doesn't fit my camera. xD

natural landscapes are usually the best, especially if you can see the lights where you are... as for dslr, all of my selfs are shot with a dslr, and i find it to be the easiest format to do so. as for the tripod... i suggest if you can't fix it invest in another one... tripod is a photographers bestfriend
