I just printed everything at one goal. but still have some bits and pieces. You gotta print asap, go in the morning, or let evening till night.

My interview went really well, I went through every question they could have possibly asked me and had answers prepared so it was easy. No idea who i had, cant remember. How come you screwed up your interview?

Yeah I answered questions well, but drifted away a little.
I began to doubt myself when I thought they have misunderstood me.
They said, "You do realise, this is a creative photography course, not artistic photography... you should try for a fine arts photography course".
Lol, something like that. Made me think, "Fuck I fucked that up".
I was just talking about approaching photography with an artistic feel. There must have been some miscommunication.

Oh well. They got the better of me. The three guys were pretty intimidating I must add.
I was hoping for Sandra and Phred, I believe I could have aced their interview... they seemed like nice people anyway

Thank you so much. Yes, I'm French. I lived and worked for a while in New York, and then in South Korea where my daily language was english...

I'll tell you more on the Paris shot, but I don't want to write it in the deviation because I like it a bit secretive... There was a huge setting for a big budget movie in the middle of Paris, they had these amazing lamps that made the whole place look unreal. So I went to my place and came back with a camera, praying they would still be shooting (tool me about 2 hours)! This is why there is this light in the center street... I shot it from an angle where the projector was hidden by the tree, and added the mode to recreate visual sense for the viewer...

Ha ! Yes... I forgot to mention but this is "heavy" HDR : 9 shots bracketing from black to white screen (it's what it takes to have transparency on the left lantern for instance), shot from a laptop computer control cabled to the camera on its tripod, so as not to move one pixel because of manual camera setting or triggering. I'm becoming a complete maniac with this but well...

My 40D only goes two stops both ways.
Oh, you could control via laptop? so you could edit the AEB settings there?

Some people do cheap HDR, they take one photo at low ISO and then they edit the shadows and highlights in photoshop to make it look HDR.

Grrr...

Hehe, I guess that low ISO technique is only good when it comes to action shots.

To be honest, I'm still on the beginning of a long road towards fully understanding and mastering HDR. I had another look at =zardo 's gallery this morning and even though I don't want to do the same thing, I just SEE how much more I have to learn... If you know what I mean...

I have 40D too, what I do is that I select the focal and aperture first, then do a test bracketing to see the exposure time the camera calculates. From there, I go to "manual" mode and try to cover the whole range with a variable timing while making sure to also input the three measures that I noted... This is why I need to do it from the laptop, otherwise I'd have to touch the camera 9 times with the scrolling wheel and the path towards nice HDR ends right there!

Low ISO still makes me drool though (but for long exposure, not HDR... Damn! I actually never even thought of using it that way!), so I'm considering to buy the EOS 5 MarkII but I'm not quite done saving the money!

How about you? How do you capture such awesome action pictures on stages? Don't the lighting conditions of the stage come in your way? They look so balanced and natural, it had me wonder too...
