The link in that AlterNet article to the Asia Times was helpful though, I had been wondering what France's interest in all this was (besides oil). The bigger picture of Libya finally seems to be coming together more clearly, except unlike Iraq no one is in the streets calling for an end to the imperialism.

Interesting isn't it that the day US missiles hit the oil rich country of Libya is on the anniversary of the Iraq war...

Since we were talking about the role of the military in Egypt before, I thought you may be interested in this article. I wish more would read it but know the size might scare some people away, but I think you'll appreciate it.

I actually keep my self pretty well up to date on Al Jazeera news since the onset of the revolution, And this is one that I read. Most news articles that delve to much into politics scare people away.
But yes, a very good article, government and business are too intertwined in most country's, even my own, and especially the US. It is not even so much a problem that people are corrupt, the problem is that the system caters to corruption. The only way that it would work was if people were all perfect and had good intentions. A system like that should have no place in governess.
Lately I have been exploring the ideas behind The Zeitgeist Movement and The Venus Project, Although it is a bit more tecky than my personal ideals, it does lay down the ground work for a system that makes a lot more sense than our current one. [link] There is a video for it if you are at all interested.
I had actually intended to forward that to you a few days ago, it just slipped my mind, moms are busy and forgetful.

I actually thought you probably already read it, was just making sure Most people don't read those types of things, even people I know would love it aren't reading it, which drives me a little crazy. I totally understand the busy thing, I've been reading everything (like this comment) three times today as my brain is not working at all since my not-quite-two year old niece and nephew twins were over, and needless to say I'm exhausted and sleep deprived. I've still been reading up on this Zeitgeist Movement, it's very interesting, thank you for sharing that. I'm surprised it's not getting more attention. Though as I keep thinking about it, I can't help but wonder how to get there, as we're still all slaves to the old system. I've tried things like small independent communities with similar self sustaining and anti-capitalism/money/possessions/etc Lennon's Imagine type stuff, but in the end they always failed as people lost drive or wanted things the community couldn't provide or just thought their children/loved ones would be better off with luxuries, or whatever the reasons, so the whole thing collapsed. As far as I know all those people are now corporate slaves like most others, even the crusty punk kids with tattooed faces who used to train hop and be homeless by choice. When it comes down to it, we need food and shelter, then we want entertainment and tools to make music or art, so we need money, so we have a shitty job that takes all our time and drains us dry emotionally, mentally, physically, spiritually. By all means, let's get something new, but shit how do we do it while still chained and feeding our families and with only so many hours in the day?

It is going to take a changed world view to make that happen. Unfortunately I think that things will have to get really bad for people to change their minds, and by then it might be too late. This is kind of the reason that I actually want to buy into the whole 2012 transition, it would be great if change could happen that soon, for the sake of my children.
The Zeitgeist movement is great in the way that it does not call for the giving up of luxuries, rather it lays down a plan for equal distribution, and access for all.
A lot of the articles on Al Jazeera seem to lean in the right direction, which I found surprising for a news agency, but the ordinary person wont follow so closely...
I am beginning to think that it may be worth it to start with educating children, and showing the relevance of worldly matters. I am currently making simple posters that I intend to "graffiti" on public schools in my area asking the questions that our youth ought to be asking. I am also writing up a concept of communal learning were pro-active parents can design lesson plans that encourage children to learn things that will contribute to a better world for all. Children are impressionable, and we need to get to them before the system strip them of their curiosity and objectiveness. One of the major subjects taught in school in Canada and the USA is the Holocaust and the importance of the creation of Israel, but nothing on the occupation, and USA vetoing UN resolutions regarding this issue, even thought it has been happening for longer than I have been on this earth. One of the important things to over come is the conditioning of our children.
On the Ziegiest movement, I have found a chapter close to me and I am considering attending on of the meetings when I get the time, but the person that I have been in contact with said that it is a struggle to keep people involved and to gain new followers, it does not help that the chapter is in one of the least pro-active city's in my area....
Ignorance is the bane of my existence, intelligent people are labelled as paranoid, and ignorance is regarded as righteousness.
I value my time over money, I make do with an income well below the poverty line as my own personal protesting of the system. My children have what they need and I believe that the most important thing that I can give them is the ability to be resourceful.
Jobs are largely unavailable here, but I feel that the unemployed should use their time to be imaginative, and pro active in their community rather than submitting to the public perception of them as leaches on the system. Our society does its best to ruin the self esteem of the poor, subjecting them to ritual degradation, harassment and embarrassment, when the real cause of poverty is rooted deep within our system and starts at the top, rather than with the individual, as they would have us believe.
Fun fact : the top one percent of Americans make more money than the bottom fifty percent at the bottom COMBINED.

I absolutely love the idea of graffiti art. And education for children. I've been thinking similar as far as it will be the next generation or more that will perfect and put into action these ideas we're coming up with now...unless something very big (catastrophic?) happens. So in the big picture it's all about focusing on them. But I have to say I'm a little selfish, I want to kill the corporate bullshit now and get myself unchained. I totally respect your views, and I even envy the ability to do what you do living proactively and on an income like that. I certainly remember the days when everything I owned could fit in my Toyota, and thinking that was too much, with fondness, there's something about living simply that is so much more rich and satisfying.
If you ever want help with your graffiti art ideas, don't hesitate to ask. I'm a big street art fan, love Banksy, Blu, Shepard Fairey, Borf, that kind of stuff with a message. Though I just saw Exit Through the Gift Shop, and got a little freaked by how even something like that can be so easily manipulated and commercialized, never underestimate how fucking retarded americans are. And be prepared for war, because people really act weird when kids get involved.

Exit though the gift shop was excellent.
Part of the inspiration for my project...
The lesson plans that I want to do would focus on survival skills (how to find food in our back yards), the importance of sharing, nutrition, and showing children how loving the earth and everything on it is the way that we love our selves.
Re-schooling the children wont consist of pointing fingers on how the current system is flawed, it will simply offer something better, something that makes more sense.

I have this itch to graffiti classical poetry on everything. ...And metal lyrics, but that's not necessarily to make things better than it is just to vent my anger, haha.

Yeah that's a good one. Maybe some Otep. Or NIN. But those are still more acceptable to society than a lot of the stuff I listen to.

Here is another great article that you should read. [link]
"When there is a systematic link between cultural identity and economic status, democracy becomes a problem, rather than a solution. It exacerbates cultural conflicts to the point of violence, because it provides a formal opportunity for the majority to force their will on the minority."

Llamas are just silly things that we give one another for some unknown reason, and if you get lots of them you get other superior llamas, like albino llamas or ninja llamas.
