I understand. School can be a real buzzkill.

Fine... unfortunately, my old comp decided to die and... well, I lost all of my WIPs so I'm very upset. ;A;

WHATWHATWHAT
lady if I had that attitude, I'd never submit anything at all!

I've come to just appreciate everything I do in art for the experience of creating it! Like little kids! I look at them and envy their sheer joy and pride at completing a scribbled crayon version of their dog on red construction paper. <3

I just read the most amazing (and I mean it - this book was fucking out of this world) novel I have ever read in years. It's called "Night Circus" by Erin Morgenstern and I really, really need someone to fan-girl with, so please read it.
Please.

So good. <3

you are the second person to tell me about that book in the past two weeks, i guess i gotta read it

i got some cash for christmas, so i'm planning to go to barnes & noble within the next few days. c8
i'll be sure to pick it up!

along with the newest warriors book because i can't seem to freaking stop reading those as they come out
breaking five-year-long habits is very hard

Ew, I hate the Warriors series.

actually i only read the first sentence of one book but it was enough

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to kinzalol [2011-12-26 23:35:18 +0000 UTC]

ok the new ones are horrible. basically all of them are horrible except the first series in my opinion but i started reading it in fourth grade and i can't...stop reading?...

i must have some kind of loyalty-to-book-series complex because this is not the first time this has happened!

i'm hoping this new book is the last because i want to stop reading so bad

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kinzalol In reply to Heifers [2011-12-27 02:03:21 +0000 UTC]

I honestly couldn't get past the introduction. It felt really forced and cliche and I don't know, maybe I'm used to a different style. So many people like those books though so there must be something good about them!

I'm probably not going to try reading any more Erin Hunter books anytime soon, though.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to kinzalol [2011-12-27 03:01:02 +0000 UTC]

really, i wouldn't be surprised if the writing /is/ forced and cliche, but i've been reading the books for five years, so i might just be used to it by now.
that aside, though, there's still a lot i can criticize. for instance, she's basically reusing the same story over and over again and recycling villains and romances. between cats.

why am i still reading them honestly ugh i just can't stop addiction is a powerful thing

hey, please don't kill me for saying this, but have you heard of homestuck?

i'm going to the mall tomorrow so i miiight be able to sneak into barnes and noble and get that book

you're such a loser.
they closed the barnes & noble (actually it was called walden books there for some reason but it was from the same chain) at our mall last year. there was an amazing closing sale though. i got loooots of books.

you know, i've heard of giant fabulous closing sales at bookstores and it makes me want that to happen
but then i'm like

no...wait
that is not a good idea because then i wouldn't have barnes and noble anymore

Heifers In reply to kinzalol [2011-10-23 00:18:40 +0000 UTC]

I had to read A Separate Peace over the summer as homework.
That book is pretty messed up. Have fun. P:

askldfjl i kind of want to reread goliath it was so amazing

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kinzalol In reply to Heifers [2011-10-23 02:57:01 +0000 UTC]

Oh. Over the summer I had to read Fahrenheit 451 and Alas, Babylon, which were pretty decent books imo.
Then I read Great Expectations. The story was good but it was tedious to read so I stopped at chapter four. xD
I'm on chapter 3 of A Separate Peace though. I'm trying to finish quickly so that I can read Goliath.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to kinzalol [2011-10-23 03:27:25 +0000 UTC]

We had to read A Separate Peace and then choose another from a list of books. Fahrenheit 451 was actually one of the options, but I went with The Secret Life of Bees because the title sounded interesting.

it was ok

Haha, I've never even attempted to read that book. I'm not a very patient book-reader...if the book hasn't really grabbed my attention by the fifth chapter and I don't have a particular reason to be reading it, usually it's on to the next one!

ugh a separate peace i don't even
i have extremely mixed feelings about that book, you'll have to tell me whether you like it or not

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

kinzalol In reply to Heifers [2011-10-23 13:31:58 +0000 UTC]

Fahrenheit 451 was really, really good, and it's not hard to read because it's super short.

Great Expectations... I actually liked the first few chapters. Dickens has a really eloquent way of describing his characters and I felt like I could really put myself in their shoes. Also, some parts were really funny. I could've read the book, had I given it more of a chance. x3

LOL I MISSED IT ON MONDAY, TOO.
But it was luckily on On Demand so I watched it there! It was a really good episode!

If you've watched it yet, did you noticed the war-ravaged BG around younger Marceline? Kinda dark for a kid's show.
And it makes me wonder if "The Great Mushroom War" had nothing to do with fungus, and more to do with nuclear weapons. (hence, mushroom-shaped cloud explosions)
Just a speculation.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to nettlebeast [2011-07-28 01:42:44 +0000 UTC]

OKAY I FINALLY WATCHED IT JUST NOW HRGHH

First, let me say that I loved baby Finn. That was the most adorable thing I've ever seen.
Second, yeah, I did - and it is dark for a kid's show, but then again, that's the kind of detail kids wouldn't pay attention to.

& yesss i've always sort of entertained the idea of the mushroom wars being some kind of horrible event that wiped out human civilization, thus the land of oo is part of a post-apocalyptic world in which finn is the only human left
It's kind of a gruesome thought, and I doubt they'll ever go into too much detail on it if that's the case.

But the mushroom cloud idea is interesting. /strokes beard

nettlebeast In reply to Heifers [2011-07-28 02:06:23 +0000 UTC]

WASN'T IT GREAT?
BABY FINNNNNN

oh and
little Marcy was all
"I'm hurting you because I love you..."
and what a dick Ash was!
THROUGH THE WHOLE EPISODE, EVERY TIME THEY SAID HIS NAME, I KEPT THINKING "KETCHUM"

Yeah, but that's why i love this show! It's pretty fearless with its weird, psychedelic animation, and its inclusion of dark humor/settings. Lovelovelove this show, so glad it exists!

also, it seems Marceline wasn't always a vampire? When she was younger, she was seen walking (jumping through trees, walking into a restaurant) so she was bitten, I guess, but by who?
I hope we see more of each character's story as the show progresses!

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to nettlebeast [2011-07-28 02:37:49 +0000 UTC]

LOL KETCHUM ASDFJLK
he was a dick.
just like james potter

I know! I think it's possible to read deeper into the entire meaning of the show, which is another beautiful thing: you can get all philosophical if you want, but you can also just remain on the surface and laugh at the hilarious jokes.
"I don't /feel/ like I'm in Marceline's memory. -pat pat pat-"

Huh! I didn't even realize that! 8U
It was also amusing how they showed her dad eating her fries.

WHY WOULD YOU DO THAT MARCELINE'S DAD. YOU ARE SUCH AN IDIOT.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

nettlebeast In reply to Heifers [2011-07-28 02:43:49 +0000 UTC]

HE'S GOTTA CATCH EM ALL//
memories, that is.

Yup! Exactly why I love it so much! It's funny and refreshing, and you can even discuss the plot itself, because there IS one, unlike with most other cartoons.

LOL I want the beat-up teddy bear she had, it was cute!

LOL I KNOW.
He sounded weird, like he was choking on them.
LOL SERVES HIM RIGHT.
What a deadbeat dad.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Heifers In reply to nettlebeast [2011-07-28 03:00:49 +0000 UTC]

And they keep it consistent! C: Marceline lived in Finn and Jake's tree house at one point - which was in a previous episode - and in this episode they actually showed her moving in.
It's so cool how they do that. ;O;

hey on that note have they shown 13-year-old princess bubblegum yet in this season because i want to see more of her
