# About me
I started doing artwork since I was six, but what really sparked my passion for art was my exposure to the famous war-game, Warhammer 40k. Inspired by 40k's the over-the-top science fantasy universe, I set out to create my own fictional universe, "Call Upon the Heavens", which currently takes place in the sector of the universe home to the Milky Way and other nearby galaxies, each with diverse alien populations. CUtH was actually quite recent; before I began developing a plot line for it (yes, I do have a storyline for it!), I simply role-played during lunchtime as valiant armoured dino-bird-lizards known as the Arkaih (original inhabitants of the Kyyistrian Commonwealth) who wielded magical laser guns. I would blast away at the enemies in the battlefield, call airstrikes, and annihilate the opposition in epic volleys of magic missiles. After role-playing for several years, I decided that CUtH needed a storyline and central characters to make it more meaningful. I eventually developed a rough plot that is still in the works, and today, CUtH is a universe I am continuing to create.
Anyways, enjoy the art, and feel free to ask me anything, as long as it's not too personal!

Yes, I am. 40k has been a major source of inspiration for my art.

Whoa, did you change your avatar? How long did you have this one?

Hethalos In reply to DTKinetic [2015-10-08 16:09:41 +0000 UTC]
Yes. I've had the previous one for over two years, and I just wanted to see how the new one looks. So far, I prefer the old one to the new one because the former has a cleaner, crisper, more elegant design whereas this one seems a little too busy and murky.

I completely agree, to be honest. I actually prefer the older one too
I've had the same avatar since 2011--the only thing I've changed since then was I put the black "D" over the red eye. But yeah, if it works, stick with it--would be my suggestion

True. I'll give it a little more time and if it doesn't work as well as I had intended, then I'll revert to the good old space marine.

What's up? Hope your semester is going well. It will be cool to see more art from you when time allows.
Have you read any of the Horus Heresy novels? Suddenly this has become very relevant in my life. I've read 7 or so now and have a lot of thoughts

My classes do not begin until September 14, so I still have quite a bit of time. Recently, I got another board game called "Space Empires: 4X" and its first expansion, "Close Encounters". So far, I'm having a blast with it and I especially enjoy the rules concerning ship experience, boarding ships, Titans (i.e. the SE versions of Death Stars that can actually annihilate planets and colonies), ground combat with differentiated units, and a couple of other new technologies.
Aside from my board games, I'm doing my course about study 40 hours a week from Mondays to Fridays, and I did find an awesome songs by Chipzel from her latest album, "Interstellaria" such as "Sakari ", "New Terra ", "Gods Give Us Strength ", "I Wanna Take You to the Spacebar ". I also emailed my art teacher concerning my art homework and he replied that I should do the best I can with whatever I remember and not attempt too many things I'm uncertain of to ensure completely standard technical training. I know I sound unnecessarily puritanical as regards to my art training, but I have found that certain fields demand exact, unadulterated application and anything otherwise gives non-optimum results. I did finish another drawing of a setting, but I can't get a good scan because it always looks slightly rotated no matter how many times I scan it. I tried correcting the rotation issues in Microsoft Word and saving the rotated image as a separate file, although it drastically reduces quality.
I haven't read the Horus Heresy novels but I am considering them despite my dislike for reading novels because I have been encouraged quite a few times to read sci-fi. I think I might want to start with Frank Herbert's "Dune" series. From what I've read on the Internet, it seems that Rick Priestly, the creator of the 40k-verse, drew thematic inspiration from Dune.
By the way, have you ever watched "If the Emperor had a Text-to-Speech-Device "? I highly recommend it. It's an amazing 40k parody series.
