Are things still busy? I figured since it's summer you might post a few things...

Yeah it would be good to get something done, although I don't have quite as much summer as I would like! I had ten days off, but apart from that it's pretty much work work work. Maybe I could manage a little something though. I've been trying out MyPaint recently, which is a free painting program. My brother uses it for all his stuff now and I think it could be better than Photoshop.

Awww, well, good luck. I have waaay too much free time myself, so I think I'll try out MyPaint. It sounds pretty cool, c: .

Yeah you should! The idea with it is that it simulates real media, so if you like using real paint or graphite or whatever then you should like it.

Oh I'm good thanks, but yeah you're right - no time for any art at all. Research/work takes up all my time. I still try to write a bit, but I never seem to get anything done unless I've got a whole day free. Darn growing up!

There'll be plenty of time for art later, right? In about... 50 years or so, xD . Nah... If you'd like to do art more often, how about having a few specific day where you put off... Let's say... Half an hour... For art? Things don't have to get done straight away, do they? I mean, you could use next week to finish it.

That's probably a good idea actually. One of my friends was telling me I really need to get time for non-work stuff sorted out, and it's definitely true.

Thanks for the faves! Which portrait did you think was better? VI or IX? I prefer VI but my art teacher seems to want me to be more raw and expressive and he thinks doing more like IX is better... I can't decide. Ignore the backgrounds, they're both abysmal but I'm working on that.

Higurro In reply to Gemneroth [2013-01-22 07:13:32 +0000 UTC]
I liked VI more, but I think that's only because you've had more time to practice that style. I can see why sticking with IX might be productive.

I'm going to change the pallet slightly to get a bit more natural tone around the highlights I think, but I do like the eyes.. I uploaded a video actually: [link]

Yes I liked the eyes too. Will check out vid later. How the tablet going by the way? I've started using Goodle Drive for my work and suddenly a tablet is making a lot more sense.

Oh and also, I had a look and I think the UbuntuOne client for windows has automatic syncing when you set it up with a folder so maybe have a look at that if you're still interested.. [link]

It's still working actually! I changed a few of the interface bits for lighter weight ones which really helped. I found youtube audio is out of sync on it, but keeping away from there is no bad thing. I just use it for Kindle and reading manga/watching anime and for art I put reference photos on it and it lets me zoom right in which, obviously, is something a paper print out can't do. I'm really glad I got it and usually with things like that there's some regret knowing I could've done better but honestly, for the money, it's great. I tested it against a friends iPad mini and the boot time is really bad but once it's up and running it's just as fast.
