The line outside the movie theater was a lot longer than Casey had expected. The line was made worse by the weather. It was one of the coldest and rainiest days she could remember in a long time. She had once again let herself be talked into going to one of the midnight first screenings for some silly superhero movie just because her best friend Justin wanted to go. Of course his girlfriend didn’t want to go she had something else to do.
So Casey stood there next to Justin in the bitter cold and the freezing rain like a moron because despite the fact that he had a girlfriend, she was pretty sure she was in love with him. Getting to do things like this with him was her last refuge as his girlfriend Amanda sunk her she-claws deeper into him. Casey knew that she should enjoy this time with Justin. Still she spent more time kicking herself in the ass when she was with him because she felt like he belonged with her not the fucking little pom-pom queen.
Still after those two dating pre   Friend Zone 2
The darkness didn’t abate for very long. The next days and weeks went by in a blur, as she began healing and learning to walk again. The lightning strike had wrecked her motor skills. The time also pasted mostly in silence for her, since she couldn’t really speak. She worked with several different therapists in regaining her ability to walk, write, and even speak.
It was very slow going but she was making progress. What never went away for her though, were the thoughts of everyone in the room with her, and sometimes even down the hall. She didn’t understand it. She wasn’t even sure if it was real. She couldn’t really tell anyone about it so she just worked day after day trying to get to where she could function again as a normal human being.
Her parents were always around, some of her classmates came by every once in a while. Justin though came by every day and sat with her. She enjoyed his visits the most because thanks to her new ability she could unders Friend Zone 3
The problem with her newfound abilities was in how to use them without bringing on a lot of unwanted attention. You see when you are a perfectly normal person you can’t just all of a sudden be something different. You cannot, not be normal. It’s what is expected. You can’t just morph and shape shift in front of people. Especially not in front of Justin, or her parents for god’s sake, she would be a lab rat for the rest of her life. She couldn’t seem like she was ahead of people because she could read their thoughts.
So for the next several days Casey plotted and schemed a way to make her abilities work for her and not make her appear as anything other than the normal girl she was. Any changes she made to her body would have to be subtle and over a little bit of time unless she wanted to call attention to herself. Of course that was not what she really wanted. She wanted to be Justin’s ideal girl right on the very spot but she understood that she was
