I think I mostly understand how it works. Basically, submit a ref, no tag teams, and you contact people if you want to do a battle. Comic format, you can decide to change if from a three week time limit (speaking of, what do you have to have done in that time limit?)
I'm barely a lurker of tournaments. Basically, I look at what comes through my inbox when there's a tournament going on. I don't have any REAL idea of how it works.

Alright... it seems like you have a pretty good idea of what's going on...
as for the comic format, you can have a longer time limit. (Some run as long as a month or two!) However, everything has to be done by the end of the schedualed time, or you forfeit your match. (Unless, of course, you and your fellow competetor agree to extend the deadline, in which case one of you has to contact the DHT (again) and tell them.)
I'll tell you this much, the only way to find out about the mechanics of any OC tournament is to participate. Even to figure out if you like it or not. It's only fun if you can work under pressure.
