Well in the end you need to play something you want to play yourself and not what others want/need you to play, but for a start it is always handy to have some people back you up (and have people give you tips and advice), since it can be quite an overwhelming experience role-playing for the first time

i roleplay a lot with my friends, but not according to the LARP rules.
i did one LARP lesson thing with my nephew once. but that was about sword combat and basics.
that was years ago too XD

Well, role-play = role-play, so you do have a little bit of experience. role-play ain't much more than playing something different than yourself. The hardest part might be playing against people you don't know!

Well, weapon combat isn't that hard to train, first lesson: don't aim on the head which is the most important thing to know when you are larping Other combat teachings ain't that hard to learn either! But I guess teaching you combat tricks might be useless if you are not using a weapon but again if you need some help let me know, I am a pretty capable fighter so I can teach you some basic stuff

And most of the calls that are used in the game can be found in the rules PDF thingie

XD i do that all the time! i have met some great new friends trough role-play but never knew them before we actually introduced our characters XD

i have about... 4 characters i play in RP's but the point is neighter of them is okay for LARP as they are all non-human and have other capabilities and stories than the form allows XD

and i don't feel much for the 'monster' thing :/

i think i'll do sword combat then XD i wanted magic at first but the amount of spells scared me XDD i would be a horrible mage myself and my character might be a genius, but it still won't know more than i do at that moment XDD

Well I guess it ain't that much of a problem then!

Well non-human isn't a problem, it is just what kind of non-human you wanna play although Aon actually does have a bit of a curve with non-human races.. But I think the best part is that you at least have a lot of ideas you could use for your character! xD

Magic is actually the hardest part in Larp (or at least one of the hardest especially when you are just starting), there are a lot of rules, you have to remember what every spell that you have does and generally it is harder than playing a fighter that is just sword and board. And on top of that, going at it with a weapon can be learned (and you have people willing to teach you xP ) and it is pretty easy to pick up. But in the end you need to do something that you like to do yourself

Haha, I realized that a little while ago, but you kept talking in English so I kept going! but yeah English does sound better. And to be entirely honest, my English is a lot better than my dutch, which is quite awkward! xP

Yeah that might be a bit hard in a larp setting xD although some larps do allow for catfolk or foxpeople, but that usually ends at still being humanoid but have animal like paws and ears and tails and usually having make-up that makes you look a bit more cat/fox like, so yeah. It is possible but not on Aon ;;

This also makes choosing skills a lot easier

Mhm, you could always ask the people that run Aon if you could be something, shall I call it diverse. Maybe they don't mind, maybe they do, I don't know for certain..

Yeah there are quite a lot of skills to choose from It'll probably get annoying but as I said before if you need help, you can always ask
