Hah, I stopped animating for a while because I thought it was kinda pointless, but.continued when I heard a revival was coming.

Sorry to disappoint you, but Nintendo is just really on my "You Better Fix This Crap Or You're Done For" list. Flipnote 3D has been horribly delayed, but it's fine because, who wants a rushed animation program? But the thing is they cancelled Flipnote Friends, which means you HAVE to pay. But luckily you can post for free for 30 days and at 7:00 PM to some other time. I'm going to get it, but possibly won't post on Flipnote, maybe on YouTube since it's possible to download Flips with audio now.

But aanyways, the 3DS offers a variety of free games, and you can buy games like Animal Crossing to play with your friends. :3 Also, the 2DS is pointless, but it's much cheaper, for those money-tight families out there(heh, like me myself.)

Huh, well the flipnote 3d delaying is a let down. I always thought the 3ds would be alot more futuristic. But all that changed was the transition from 2d to 3d, somestuff that costs money is now free and somestuff that was free now cost money.(Hatena) that and the mii things.

And for my FINAL QUESTION.

what's animal crossing. I keep hearing about it but... ya'know.

Oh, there's more to it. theres a Friend List, Miiverse(chat about games ya like, post achievements and screenshots), new games,  AR cards, Miis as you said, Streetpass, better Internet Browser.... all that. Its very cool.

Oh! Animal Crossing is a game series like the Sims. You are a person that moves into a town filled wi animal residents, but you are mayor. Make a cool town, customize your house, visit the Island to go on tours and catc bugs, invite friends over, and more! Its really addicting, I'm warning ya, but very fun. You can check out the website to see more, I guess. So far, the best one in my opinion, is Animal Crossing New Leaf. It's for the 3ds, bit still, it is worth every penny.
