Huh. That's odd. I wonder why (s)he blocked you.

I'm aware. It usually has more to do with isolation, of which we've had plenty of here. I can't even go to other parts of Ohio without going through bits and pieces of culture shock. Even with the accents... Being big does help with the isolation effect. It's just that, because we're so big, there's naturally going to be more "groups", if not for any reason other than we have a carpload of people.

However, it occurred to me as soon as I replied about what I was talking about in the original comment. I was actually referring more to the "melting pot" effect. Which, while not so prominent where I live currently (Ohio; people moved here and then they stayed here for generations, and it's mostly just the Germans that moved here), I used to live in Hawaii, and holy cow! The entire Hawaiian culture is a blend of Filipino (which, in and of itself, has Spanish traces within it), Hawaiian, Japanese, American, Chinese, and then some! It's pretty amazing to see.

(On a side note, coolio that you live in Spain! I don't see a whole lot of people from your country floating about on the Internet. I've always sort of liked Spanish Spanish [I've seen it called Castillian or something like that, is that correct?] more than Mexican Spanish; I find the accent more pleasing to the ear. )

I know why.

Same with Spain, it's one of the most close-minded first-world countries I've ever seen. It's not their fault though, spanish society is just a little behind due to Franco.

Yeah, there's a lot of ethnic groups mixing over there. As long as people don't claim they -are- irish/german/japanese/etc instead of saying it's their ancestry, I'm not bothered by it.

That's because spain's english level sucks. Noone speaks english over here. And it doesn't really matter if you say spanish or castillan. Well to some people it does, they get offended if you say spanish. But regular people won't mind.

And there's different pronounciation in spain itself. God, andalusian accent. I can hardly understand that one. And I'm not a fan of the other regional accents neither. I love argentinian accent.
