Hi!
Thanks for all the great comments!!! You asked why so grainy for Heron Baby Talk? Early digiscoping experiments that I've learned from. Turn OFF the digital zoom, tempting as it might be, better off without it. I'm also shooting through too many layers of glass, I think that contributes, too. Glad you liked the Northern Shoveler Views, I'm very pleased with the views concept and should be following up with many more of that style. DOF is also a bit of a problem with digiscoping (at least with my setup). I'm very limited to F-stops and shutter speed with that huge lens attached.
Great comments, right on! Thanks again!
Have a great DAy!!! Rob the Swash

Thanks for your comment on my Surf Scooter Juv shot. It's not your monitor....a very LONGGG shot, lens distortion becomes a factor, plus the bird had been diving, so the wet feathers blur the back even more. The DOF is due to the very low angle of attack, my current birding style has me shooting as low to the water as possible. With open ocean shoots, I may have to re-think this "style".

Hi there!!! cheers for the comments on implosion!!!! the best way i have found to shoot water is, allways have ya camera tripod mounted, and prefocus on something fixed floating on the water surface where ya water is gonnna impact. then do a few shots to check exposure on the scene cos i shutter speed wants to be as high as possible without sacraficing depth of field. i always control the rate of the drops too, maybe every 3 seconds. i did that by cutting the finger off a ruber glove and putting it over the end of the tap, and making a small hole. so now the waters more predictable i take the shots by watching the drops with my own eyes not looking through the camera, and just keep doing 3fps shots at different intervals, that one sure way i have found to stopping water without a lot of luck!!!!!!
David.

Hi!
Thanks for the comments on 3D Peacock and Dragon Flight. As for the latter, 38th out of 119. Not so good. The top placers were very good, but still...I thought I should have placed better than that.
WB in auto mode can lead to odd results, but then again, some of my favorite stuff was the results of a accident or two. My rule: Take LOTS of shots with as many different settings as possible (even "wrong" ones), see what happens. Mostly, have fun. (Life's short!)

Hi Ingo!
Welcome to DA!!!
Thanks for all the GREAT comments!!! Let me respond to at least a few....
In The Snow series - Honestly, I took all of these shots from the warm comfort of my living room. A large spotting scope mated up to my digital camera does wonders!!!
Nuts Come Out This Door - brave squirrel...all but knocks on the door!!!
Mt Rainier Waterfall - thanks, Mt. Rainier has lots of great waterfalls. I don't take good photo notes...hint, hint
Window Grasshopper - just for fun, it was posing, so I obliged.
Pine Siskin Portrait - dark background? (how) It was a moderately dark day and the noble fir is very dense in places, you are just "seeing" the inner part of the tree in shadow. (It worked out very well, didn't it?)
Thanks so much! I appreciate your comments to no end!!!
