I've been transitioning from 3d art to pixel art ..so far its been great. I do have the first villain almost done being developed, she may be a little of a challenge for you to concept though... there very tall..and they are sisters..visually a two headed android with very long necks . Also i cant remember if you gave me a price quote for logos or not..i'll have to check..

Your welcome, i've seen your piece before on here but came across it again when i was looking for aseprite tutorials on youtube. Im just starting off doing pixel art and found the aseprite software easier to learn than the graphics gale. What amazed me the most was that you made the "Heartbreaking news" piece from basic shapes, that gives me hope that one eventually i may be able to make nice things also but right now im just still looking around for the basics. Like you im a aspiring game develop..going to college for computer science but i have no artistic skills so i was told to study pixel art.

It's a worthy challenge, and probably not one that will be completed in the first attempt. I think that inspiration and patience. There will be faults at first, try to identify them and fix them in your next piece, and remember to be proud over the progress.
I could probably write a whole essay on the process I went through when I started drawing pixelart, but basically I come down to keeping in mind a 3d representation of the character, make the lineart as pretty as possible, and don't bother with shading until you feel ready for it. When you can see the depth of a character without the use of shadows, then it is an excellent drawing.

When I started out my artistic ventures, I managed to find a decently skilled pixel artist, *Pix3M , who happened to also be very generous with tips and hints about how to think when making pixelart. He pointed many aspiring artists towards [link] and [link]
The first one is more for basic knowledge and stuff to think about when starting out, while the second one is very in-depth and probably better for later when you start to get the hang of the basics and start to wonder how to make your lines look better.
