Hello Veldruun! Thanks for posting! I've had a look and for roughs they're good - The two I like the most are your ideas for the cover with the solo Nova flying/fighting as first option -
The larger landscape drawing of Nova ripping off a very large chunk of robot I like - but - and here is the but the drawing to me looses impact as you've obscured Nova's head completely - I think if you re drew it showing Nova's helmet fully with visible expression would push the quality of the concept up several notches.

So suggest you make a few alterations to the solo shot - tighter pencils and follow my suggestions ref the second portrait version.

I also think you need to improve more on faces - to me Rich's face looks a lot older - the scar -if you look at him directly face on - is on the left hand side of his face, not the right!

Nova Corps cadet is a radical design although I have to point out the Corps won't be in 619 - but the uniform could be modified for the United Defense Initiatite personal - I'll try over the next few days to do a tighter sketch version of this!

Hope I'm not being too critical but I often give both good and good to all I work with as a means to try and help folks improve with their art - I get the same too - and have to say its always helpful to get critism in order to get better!

Yeah no worries Daz,glad you like the ideas.I'll tighten the pencils and make the alterations.

With the faces,are you saying I'm drawing Rich's face older or younger?I do tend to draw my faces slighty older,unconsciously that is.LOL!

Ha ha!I thought I would'nt get away with the helmet thing,I'll redo that.

As for crits,you just got to have them to grow and besides if you've ever had to deal with editors...well enuff said.Thanks for replying and I'll get back too you soonest.Cheers.

Rich is apx in his early twenties - roughly 24 so that's the ae bracket you need to aim at. Post me a Note with your e.mail address and I'll send you some ref of Rich from the present Nova series for you to utilize.

I had a great holiday thanks! I'm happy to have you take part in the Nova 619 Project, but firstly you'll need to let me know what you'd like to do.

The main participants involved at the moment are: Jason Heichel (Canada)/Isreal Huretas (Spain) and Chris Anderson (US) who are the main pencillers on the project. Isreal/Chris also do Digital Inks along with me. We have presently 2 colourists, Brandon P and Barry Chandler and 1 letterer namely me! If you check the Group gallery, you can see what kind of art they do, etc as well as visting their own galleries.

Story and Plots are overseen by me - however to encourage full participation some of the team are also doing storyboarding for their own sections, plot ideas, etc. A working knowledge of Nova's back history isn't essential but it does help. Most of 619 stuff takes place after Annihilation so if you've been following the DNA series...well in this universe, that doesn't happen. If you need to brush up on your Nova stuff I suggest you visit Nova Prime Page, the main Nova fan site (google the site).

So first, let me know what you can do. I'll probably ask you to do a few full-rendered sketches etc - or submit a artwork for a alt cover design for one of the stories. The main thing I must mention is that this isn't a paid project. Everyone is doing this for fun and improving their skills. The comics will be web-comics, which will feature on Nova Prime Page and Cosmic Book News.

Hi Daz,as ever you're a gent.Just to be clear I am Marvel thru and thru but do try to appreciate other pubs,LOL!!I'll definitely
brush up on my Nova bio and I would love to do any alt covers or sketches as you have suggested and I'm in it for the sheer enthusiasm of it.And of course to improve my skills too.

Please let me know what you think I could do towards Nova 619 project(sounds like a secret military ops)LOL!!

This has really stoked my interest in superheroes again,been drawn to manga for the last couple of years now.LOL!!

Well thanks for the compliment! I'm Marvel specific but I have read DC and some Indie stuff over the years. Apart from Nova I also follow Avergers, FF, and Captain America although when Marvel UK was around I followed Captain Britain, etc. I've been a contributor to the Nova Prime Page since 2002 and more recently a reporter covering Doctor Who for CBN.

If you visit Nova Prime Page - that pretty covers everything Nova - or visit the wilkepedia entry by entering Nova Marvel. For Nova 619 everything applies MU wise up to Annihilation - but after that is where the series takes a different path. Essentially I loved the way Keith Giffen made Nova a more realistic character with a definate Military SF feel to it. So I'm using that as a blueprint for Nova619 - with many of the United Front characters as back-cast to Richard Rider - including Peter Quill who stays non-Starlord with his cybernetic implants, Mari the Rigellian Medico, Kika who came from Omega Corps and others such as Ronan, Skurll Baroness S'Bak etc. But I'm also creating new characters too - such as the Veradiane, the Veil Kartel - and ressurecting one of Nova's oldest ememies as principal villain who I can't name here...and no it isn't the Sphinx.

What I suggest you do first is have a read of the plotlines for SOP and perhaps one of the later stories which I'll send to you. Let me know what kinds of text docs you can open. Word, etc...

Also suggest you do some sketches of the characters, etc as a warm up - as an idea you could do what a lot of prospective Marvel artists do is re-draw a page from a comic, in your style and method. Alt I can send you one of the panel layouts scripts that one of the 619 Artists are following and have a go drawing it in your style. After that, maybe submit some pencils - which others can have a go inking, etc. At the end - as you say the project is also designed to help improve skills and have fun.

Most of the characters are exactly from the regular Nova universe so if you have the comics/ or check on the net the ref is there. However like your Darkside version, they're pen to reinterpretation.
