Haha, this sounds fantastic <: I'd be perfectly fine with handing out critique. I'm definitely not the one to go to regarding advanced anatomy, but I'm certainly willing to do what I can for most other aspects of an art piece. Though, I might as well ask, how will this work? As in, do people ask for critique from the channel and I put up a video on the channel, or upload it to my own to be added to a "favorite" list or something? 'o'

All critiques will be on the channel, and they'll be pretty edited, too.
Classical bg music, reference photos, redlines, annotations with links....the works.
I'll do most of the heavy-duty editing (unless you want to) for the videos, but the text or audio or video you'll provide. So all feedback if yours.
I'm think of deviding critiques up into a few sections, so I can handle anatomy (I have a knack for it) and you can handle other aspects, etc, on projects where you want to add to the feedback (blahblahblahconfusingtextbox)


I already have a few people who want critiques on their pieces and I'll be advertising it on a few websites once we have a few videos rigged up and ready to go

Thje channel will have a few art-instruction related playlists to help until then (I've already got a start on that)

Any other suggestions would be really nice!

In any case, along with crits, you can also help manage the channel when other members are busy and vice-versa



The channel's really to get away from the ass-patty critiques you see on dA for artists who really want good feedback.

I think I may want to do my own editing, but I think we'll cross that bridge when we get there. Mostly because I imagine I'll explain things more thoroughly, but maybe not, so, again, we'll see when we get there.

I can handle pretty much anything but anatomy. Composition (including some perspective/motion dynamics), color theory, and expressions with characters are pretty much my general "I think I know enough about all of these to be able to give some advice where I see it". Actually, I could critique comics/comic-writing as well, if we wanted to expand our audience a bit more.

I'm actually sort of excited to get at critiquing, so if there's any project I could look at in the mean-time while we're setting things up, I'd love to start working.

Yeah, I noticed the art-instruction. I think maybe some videos with how-tos on backgrounds might definitely benefit a great deal of people (including myself).

I'm really happy about your initiative, actually. It's really hard to find a serious critique on DA, and I'd love to see a collection that doesn't give an inch on the basic ideals of art to praise an artist where it isn't deserved or doesn't encourage the continuation of mistakes inherent in an artist when praised for things that obviously need improvement.

Yah, I can see where that's coming from, actually.
I've got a nice handle of art fundamentals myself, but I can say my specialty is anatomy?
I do think, though, we should get a human artist on board in case I need some back up for human anatomy, just for variety.

So perhaps we can make our own crits AND sometimes half-collaborate on them? Like....if I'm feeling lazy I can ask for a crit from you and I'll just go over the anatomy and for you vice-versa? Idk this is all pretty conceptual at this point and I still need to assemble more volunteers suited to the project.

As far as those videos, I'll get on it lickity split. I'll note you password info a little later, btw.

Ah, yes, I feel exactly the same way. I got inspired for this when I looked at the "critiques" section and all pictures had 5 stars.....u.u most didn't deserve them

I totally agree, though we're definitely going to have to "seek them out" rather than wait for them to apply. Perhaps not a huge name artist (seeing how they'll likely be busy with other things), but definitely more artists to distribute different areas of critique would be most helpful to the receiver. My first suggestion would be ~Malevolent-Decadence , who has proven herself more than sufficient with anatomy.

Exactly! I think that would work. Like, maybe we could have a "panel" of critiquing artists to type their complete input, we decide which pieces to input (so that we're not repeating the same thing several times and wasting their time and ours) and then everybody records their respective input and hands it in. If they feel a visual would be helpful, they can send that in with their recording. If they need it to be animated/whatever, they can turn it into a video clip and send it as a video file.

Yeah, I saw this whole picture that took a screenshot of the "most recent critiques" page, and there was only ONE where the critique went under 4 stars, and even then it was being generous.
