I like the three newest pictures (unfortunately I didn't manage to see "Power of Istanbul" any bigger than the thumbnail). These watercolor works (or how are they done technically?) seem very fresh and light. The compositions are well chosen. Ispecially as a series they work well because of the contrast: Two pictures showing a scenery of some sort and one showing a detail, that could be seen as abstract form (or as zipper).

thank you so much. The power of Istanbul will be re-uploaded, I had not realized it was thumbnail . It is an acrylic gold sparkle base with black gouache details. I somehow managed to work with two colours and still show night and light. I work 'blind' as I have no art training so what you see is what you get. The zipper intrigued me because I managed again to get light into a black zipper. Art is a learning.

It really helps to have a closer look at "the power of Istanbul"; Only then the material aspect is revealed: brush strokes, colour spots and transparency. The composition and representation is here very reduced. Unfortunately the gold sparkle base can only be imagined. But yeah, there's allways a drawback of digital representation.
Concerning black: it's never really black if you look close enough (like in your zipper), neither are shadows. Are you familiar with the colour contrast theories? They can bring some insight at this point. It can be interesting and astonishing to do some colour studies on your own, just to get a feeling for the endless variations.

I am an oxymoron
And deal with it each day.
You see, I hate
The haters in the world and
Won’t indulge in their play.
Being me, I take the time
To step into their shoes
And saunter from the
Other side.
But I have nothing big to lose.
From minds of hate come
Words that spew spit
And with it, phlegm.
They are meant to insult,
Belittle, and tear up other men.
I hurl at those thoughts and words
And twist right inside out
And finally end up screaming back,
My voice beyond a shout.
“I hate you, all you haters,
Who steal our goodness,
And use the words of angels
And force them to conspire.
“Who set apart all peace
And harmony to satisfy
The anger, pain, injustice that
You feel.”
And through these words and actions,
Be they what they may,
The oxymoron lives on
And will not go away.
I love the love of lovers,
The opposite of sin,
Rose coloured glasses suit my face,
Force me to look in.
Who am I to judge the lovers
and the sinners in between?
Parked out there in the suburbs
With oceans in the seams.
“You can not know the level of the hatred I’ve endured,”
Said one great man who suffered
Through the casualties of war.
“We moved my family out of a country we adored
To save our children from the bombs
And death and terror by the score.
“We lived all shackled and appeared
Free to do in might and will.
What do we look like, woman,
When you peer at us from your hill?
“It’s not the way you think it is.
You’ve not walked in my shoes.
My family is safe for now
But so much we've endured.
“The blasting of hand grenades
To some like simple fire crackers
Or machine guns belting at a home
The timing hardly matters.
“Our food is ready on our plates
We must still have our dinner.
Too many times the bombs have struck,
Killing the breadwinner.
“We packed our bags each one of us
And split our family far and wide
Until we can go home again
When enemy hatred dies.
“Judge not our anger
Nor our hatred of injustice to our people.
Please listen to us when we talk.
Take a look a whole lot deeper
“Feel the pain that’s recent,
And know the pain that’s past.
Then speak to me of love and peace
And harmony that lasts.
“Cause 'talk is cheap,' as
People say – It is action that is heard.
But action gives us casualties
And hurts our people more.
“I’m not saying you are wrong
Or suggesting you think differently
Just realize
There’s going to be a
Residual effect.
and that
“We too pray for the day
when peace is in the wings.
And if hate is a sin, we look
To God to forgive us all those things.
“For we are human
In a world that’s just not fair,
And sometimes in our hearts
We find that we don’t care
Beyond our own survival
We sometimes cannot think.
“We are oxymorons, too,
In this elaborate web of hate.
We are oxymorons
and, just like you,
We often hate the haters, too”
