Thanks for the on my dragon sculpture! There are many more in my gallery, if you'd like to take a look.
I loved looking through all the pictures of your rats! I have three, myself. ^^

AWWW! Your rats are cute too
I love your "Epic yawn" picture. I have also tried to photograph this situation of my yawning rats, and I still have not succeeded T.T
My photo was blurry ... ^^'

Yeah, I got lucky with the timing on that one. ^_^
I mayyyyy have a big, fancy DSLR camera with a sport lens specifically for getting non-blurry photos of my rats...

I have a Nikon D60 and I use a 35mm prime lens and external flash when taking pictures of my rats. It does a good job of getting still pictures, even when they're running all over the place. I tend to get the focus wrong, though, so I still get a lot of unusable pictures. xD

If you're having trouble getting nicely lit photos, it can be very helpful, especially when paired with a diffuser. You might be able to try making yourself a homemade diffuser for your built-in flash, if you'd like to have softer shadows - I think I've seen a few tutorials around dA on the matter.
For sharper photos, you'll want a combination of bright lighting and a fast shutter speed. That's why I use the lens that I do - it is built for capturing fast-moving objects. Since you have a DSLR, you can try fiddling around with the shutter speed and aperture setttings - a faster shutter speed with reduce movement blur, but it'll also result in darker photos, so you need to find a balance.
