Des "spécialistes" en héraldique, il y en a pas mal sur .
Mais des bons, qui ne se contentent pas d'agréger du contenu Wikipédia, beaucoup moins.
S'il y a une règle en héraldique, c'est "Jamais métal sur métal, ni émail sur émail." afin d'obtenir le contraste requis pour identifier facilement le blason.
Un blason réaliser en marqueterie permet de s'affranchir un tant soit peu de cette règle, que tu as quand même respectée (peut-être inconsciemment) en jouant sur les contrastes.

Je plaisante. Je ne savais pas la regles, mais c'est bon a retenir.
La notion de contraste est pour moi evidente (en plus je suis daltonien , donc je vois un spectre de couleur plus restrain) , cela facilite le travaille de marqueterie et comme tu les dis justement , la lisibilité, meme si le meubles ne signifie absolument rien....

My last costumer came in my shop after seeing this in the showcase:

Unfortunately, I saw Antwerp once, late at night, desperately looking for an hotel.

Antwerp is a gorgeous city though. A lot to see, but not as much late in the evening. Granted, there's some amazing works of light on the goldleaf here and there, but you can't actually "do" things.
I study there, so I experience it for 24/5
