Thank you Mona! Yea I really enjoy drawing hair. It does take a lot of time and practice. Though I do enjoy drawing the eyes more. I personally don't like drawing hands and lips though lol.

Lol, every artist has his/her specialty, . Yeah, I SUCK at hands, they end up looking all cartoony and funky, but I love drawing eyes as well. In general, I love drawing portraits. I'm working on a painting right now, which I have not touched since the beginning of the school year because of lack of time and space, but it's a portrait of the characters Edward and Bella from the Twilight series. Hopefully I'll get it done before 2009 rolls around!

So what's your specialty? I've never seen Twilight but I just googled them and they look like they'd make a good painting. Good luck on that, and get it done!! Don't be like me lol...I started the Delta Goodrem drawing at the end of July. After I finished the face I just left it there to collect dust lol.

lol. funny how that happens, huh? thus far, my specialty is portraits & figures, usually sketching and painting. i was inspired to paint the Twilight characters over the summer as I got more and more pulled in by the books (the movie comes out in November! wooot! you should go see it!). It's difficult right now to paint because I don't really have the space in my dorm room and I'm not an art student so I can't use the studio space (which really sucks). At the beginning of the semester, I bugged the art department about letting me use studio space, and the head-guy was like, well that space is reserved for art students and told me he would check into it. I haven't really heard a "yea" or "nay" on it yet, so I think I'm going to email him, but still, even if I do get the space, I'm just soooo incredibly busy with other things. Right now, all of my artistic energies are focused on poetry, which is going well. I'm really enjoying it .

So, for how long have you been drawing/doing art?

I've been doing art since Kindergarten lol. All my life I thought it'd be something I wanna make my future, but now that I took art in college I realized it's better off as a hobby. Careers can dull your passion sometimes.

What you should do is take an art class so you have an excuse to use studio space lol. Plus you can paint. I can't paint to save my life lol. Though I have been looking into making color portraits with colored pencils, it's just a matter of wanting to take that next step yanno?

As for poetry, that's pretty awesome. I'd like to improve my poetic skills, more specifically lyrical since I'm also a musician and a hopeful songwriter

I understand what you mean about careers dulling your passion, if you make a career out of your passion. I guess it's different for different people. I mean, take my poetry professor (who in my opinion is the best professor ever. period.) for example. He is a professional poet, loves poetry and loves teaching it. I don't he would be happy doing anything else. It's such a huge part of his life, and he's also big into film and music. Personally, I couldn't imagine doing anything with my life than what I'm passionate about. This is gonna sound really cliche, but it's like being without air, like suffocating, for me, at least. Like I said, it's different for everybody, and you should do what you think is best for yourself.

So, you're a musician! That's pretty cool. What instruments do you play? I want to learn to play guitar someday. I've dabbled a little in piano, never really had formal lessons. The most "advanced" piece I can play is the first page of the Fur Elise, but I have a pretty good basic understanding of how to play. But poetry, yes, has its own kind of music; there's something really fascinating about the music of words without instruments in the background. The sound of the human voice--it's gold.

but if i may i'd respond to your last post anyway, despite being a good 13 months late lol...

Yes I'm a musician! I play the guitar, piano, cajon, and I also sing. Been playing piano for about 12 years now and I too have conquered the first page of fur elise lol. For some reason I cannot for the life of me play that song...something about the technique it demands...

As for art in general, unfortunately I haven't made any new drawings since Delta Goodrem ...I've been focused on music making (now my college major), but I'm sure I'll get back soon. At least I've explored photography a bit more, and now I'm in the process of building a small wedding photo business!

So how about you? How've you been? Any new artwork?
