Thankyou so much! I guess it's mostly down to practice (although work and life often get in the way and I don't do nearly as much art as I'd like). I studied illustration at university too.
It's also worth REALLY exploring the options your chosen art software gives you. I don't think Sketchbook gets the love it deserves as a painting and concept art tool, the brush engine is actually really good - not as advanced as some, but you can still get pretty amazing results once you get to grips with the brush settings. Autodesk have said they're working to have the same features across all versions of Sketchbook, so hopefully it won't be long before you can use custom brushes on mobile too!

Ah yes, practice. I'm not quite old enough to be in university, haha,
and I only do drawing so far as a hobby. I'm mainly self-taught, so
I'm not as advanced quite yet. I only gather from what I see, since
I'm too shy to ask the pros for advice, lol.
Autodesk is a good art tool, I have to agree. It's also great that pro
is now free (YEEESSS) and I have more access to different types of
brushes. It's been helping me a lot. I mainly play around with the
brushes first to see which ones I can use for a certain piece, but it's
sometimes hard to do some things, like shadowing and all that.
I use Autodesk on my computer. I always draw with my finger, since I
currently don't have a pen. T^T But I'll be waiting for the new updates
I guess!
