Yeah it wasnt good. Have you tried role playing? as in with dice, mates and a table? It certainly doesnt deserve its bad rep!

brilliant system. The more cinematic and free flowing the more our group likes it. Ive had a few games where we never had any combat XD

Kyotita In reply to Jazon19 [2014-02-05 14:06:03 +0000 UTC]
even without combat if you can make your scenes and interactions interesting enough and make use of rolls then they can still be fun. Did a lot of that with my WoD game

Jazon19 In reply to Kyotita [2014-02-05 14:07:55 +0000 UTC]
yeah man exactly. Ive played with a group who was pretty much combat only and XP hoarders. That was a depressing time for me hahah

Kyotita In reply to Jazon19 [2014-02-05 14:32:46 +0000 UTC]
aye I feel all combat gets boring quick, you gotta give the world LIFE and the players a sense of freedom (I actually made an entire city map with 5 districts my players could roam about and I had a dice system to tell me if anything would happen to them, while still having a main story they could pick up as they choose)

Jazon19 In reply to Kyotita [2014-02-05 14:42:53 +0000 UTC]
Ive found the way to make combat less boring, is to try and breath as much life into the npcs as possible. An animal that takes damage doesnt "take 5 damage" it "rears back, fangs exposed, eyes flashing in caution. It felt your steel then. And it doesnt look keen for another taste." But I know what you mean about combat. Nothings more tedious than a battle with maybe 5 npcs, that takes over 3 hours.
My players are still learning to be descriptive in their attack descriptions. but I always prompt them, and let them know that things like a creatures defense or something may drop, if they are especially creative or in character.
Cool idea about the city dude. In one D&D game we had a kaiju fight. Magical construct vs beast from the sea. Had a method similar to the power rangers, one person was on legs, another each on an arm and one in the head. and we annihilated half the city we were protecting.. heh. whups!

lol that kaiju battle sounds like it was amazing lol

Each person had a skill roll to make as certain parts moved. So a throw would require a roll from the legs and arms. Eye beams from the head. etc.
Imagine my surprise when penny arcades actual play did almost the same thing almost 10 years later!
