I can't find the original comment I just replied to you on in regards to this photo, [link]
I mentioned the artist had said in the description that the model herself was part Cherokee. I just looked and it appears he's taken that out of the description. But I swear it was there a few hours ago.
I didn't intend to argue with you either, I'm open to discussing that topic and not getting all worked up about it. I just think there's a balance.... maybe my perspective is different because of the Native people I know in the community here. I'm on the Northwest coast of the states, my father is actively involved in events held on the reservations here. I've met his Native friends and hung out with them and they seem like very relaxed people.. maybe some of them would feel conflicted about that image. And I suppose I can understand where they are coming from.
I looked at that image from an artistic view point and appreciated it simply for it's beauty. But some people see it differently. I guess that's all I can say about it.

I can't say I agree with you - for a number of reasons, most of them articulated in the links I gave (which I am pretty sure was the comment you replied too). Also, native people are not a homogenous group and it is understandable that some will feel very different from others about the subject.
But I like you. I didn't ever think you were arguing with me. In fact, I find it quite refreshing that you are open to discussing the subject when so many other people are very knee-jerky about stuff like this.
This is how the world becomes a better place, right?

Yes, indeed.
And I always try to do my best to respect other people.
If a lot of Native people do in fact feel negatively towards
this topic, then I would be mistaken in thinking it was okay.
