bleedproof paper definately helps, or bristol board, differant results for both, but both look great ^^
pro tip:
bleedproof paper is best to blend light-->dark
bristol board takes layering a lot better, and you can blernd either way, i sometimes go dark--> light

So I mostly colour on thicker paper
