Given you're apparently back and you used to support the following viewpoint, what do you think of this:Β  NUKING 'Toroceratops' -The master list!!!Any questions about why "Toroceratops" theory is not valid should be directed here. If you want to know more about it, just read this and if you have questions about Toroceratops or Jack Horner's other hyper-lump theories, comment here - it's a lot easier and less messy than asking me about it in the main page comments.
Q: I have heard that the Jack Horner theory about Torosaurus being nothing more than old individuals of Triceratops is getting a lot of pushback. Paleo King, what are your views on the theory, and what does the evidence actually say?

A: They are arm-waving. Horner actually has a pattern of doing this, it isn't the first time. Remember the β€œobligate scavenger T. rex”? Every piece of evidence Bakker, Currie, Weishampel, etc. looked at, Horner basically ignored or dismissed or even denied – even things as basic as eye socket shape – just to preserve his precious theory. Later Horner confessed that he β€œnever liked T. rex anyway” (h

Hey JohnFaa,
I have been working on a K-T project where two islands from Eastern Asia(based on Mongolian sites) and Southwestern South America(based on Patagonian sites) collided forming a landmass equal to Madagascar, Tectonics then shifted the landmass just south of Alaska. I read "Taxa at the K-T boundary" on Spec Forum, but I am uncertain of the animals native to the areas the Islands split from.

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

JohnFaa In reply to Krookodile0553 [2012-04-18 00:50:01 +0000 UTC]

Well, did your islands diverge before or after the Cretaceous Thermal Maximum? If after, then it's the typical list for late Cretaceous fauna.

In Asia:

- Eudromaeosaurs
- Troodontids
- Ornithomimids
- Ceratopsians ("protoceratopsids", ceratopsids, several absal taxa)
- Tyrannosaurs
- Hadrosaurs (lambeosaurines being more dominant)
- Euenantiornithes
- Apsaravids
- Presbyornithids
- Lithornithids
- Titanosaurs
- Oviraptorids
- Therizinosaurs
- Alvarezsaurids
- Gobisuchids
- Therian mammals (basal eutherians, several metatherians, most promeniently deltatheroids)
- Cimolodont Multituberculates
- Varanoids
- Simoedosaurid Choristoderes
- Pterosaurs (azhdarchids, ornithocheirids)
- Allocaudates

In patagonian South America:

- Sebecians
- Abelisaurs
- Notosuchians
- Neovenatorids
- Titanosaurs
- Noasaurids
- Unenlagiines
- Unassorted deinonychosaurs
- Euenantiornithes
- Thescelosaurids
- Hadrosaurs
- Pterosaurs (chaoyangopterids, azhdarchids)
- Dryolestids
- Gondwanatheres
- Monotremates
- Possible metatherians and xenarthrans
- Meridiungulates
- Sphenodontians
- Alvarezsaurids
- Early snakes
- Unassorted lizards
- Several amphibian taxa like leptodactylids.

Krookodile0553 In reply to JohnFaa [2012-04-18 02:07:44 +0000 UTC]

Yes it does,
For taxa present,I narrowed it down that descendants of Alverezsaurs, Oviraptorids, Protoceratopsians, and Troodonts due to the sheer volume of species I know of in Mongolia(most of my knowledge consists of Dinosaur taxa); however if there are others you can think of,and want to contribute, it might help to know that the climate is mostly Sub-polar, though the south is more temperate, and temperate rain-forests in the far south, an extreme mountain range second in height only to the Himalayas, formed from the collision(and is still colliding). Then Boreal Forests and an enormous Steppe/Tundra in the north. Anyways, Pachycephalosaurs were exterminated by the Thermal Maximum in Mongolia?

Krookodile0553 In reply to JohnFaa [2012-04-18 20:09:38 +0000 UTC]

In the original draft of my project(before the idea of an additional S. American island)Pachycephalosaurs diversified, as Ceratopsians can't graze, and the cold obliterates Ornithopods, Ankylosaurs, and Titanosaurs. Though on Spec, Pachycephalosaurs went extinct. Is there any reason why?

It was just to show that extinctions can occur for no reason.
