I actually started out hating make up. *laughs* I only started after I discovered Visual Kei about 4 years ago. Even then, I just wore eyeliner because my mother was a bit cautious about the whole style. But she never stopped me! So I continued~ But I only got serious about it 2 years ago? When I really started doing make up the way I do now.

same here. i dont like applying makeup but my older sister liked to practice on me because i have double eyelids. its just a pain to take off so i just stick to putting on some eyeliner. she buys/gives me eyeshadow to "play around with" but i'm aint nobody got time for that!i like visual kei because it looks so elegant and creative. it's just so beautiful! >_< but i dont think i have the patience or skill to do that kind of make up.

Ooh~ Your sister is a make up artist?
It definitely takes time because I wear the make up I post here out regularly. (I take about 1.5hrs to get ready, with hair and make up.) I would say most visual kei artists (Alice Nine in particular) wear pretty simple smokey type eye make up. /w\ But I say it's easy now because I practiced make up like crazy for 2 years (everyday for two years), until I finally got decent at it. Even then, I still make mistakes. ;_;
^_^; But we all have our own styles and preferences! I could never do some of the make up worn by Visual Kei band members. Especially Hitsugi from Nightmare.

nah she's just likes trying new stuff but she says the tutorials dont work for her...like she cant get it to look like theirs. 1.5 hrs just to GET READY?! what do you have to do to get ready? I like the smokey eyes n_n
You're committed to your work. some people give up too fast kinda like me >.>
you probably improve as you keep practicing, right?
Why not? (I just looked it up and it doent seem too bad.)
so then what's your favorite style? i see you do a lot of colorful stuff and i really like it :3
i like the natural look like no outrageous colors for me. neutral colors. but i do like red, purple, and green but of course they have to be dark shades. only light color i like is silver. and i cant do glitter, such a pain to get off OvO
π: 0 β©: 1
Jounka In reply to jmusicluvr13 [2013-02-23 03:03:41 +0000 UTC]
Oooh~ I see. Yeah, usually I don't follow tutorials because it's quite difficult to tweak a look to get it to fit. Especially since I have monolids.
^_^; Make Up takes me 40mins to 1 hour and my hair takes about 30mins to complete. Because the visual kei make up is very smokey, blending the colours seamlessly takes time.
I'll definitely improve as I practice more but I am also impatient myself. *laughs* I have gotten better at not giving up half way. I actually did give up make up for 3 months after I got so frustrated with it. But I admit that I really enjoy it, that's why I spend so much time on it without feeling too bad XD.
Hitsugi's style is really artistic! Especially for his personal shoots, I'm very bad at clean sharp work. (Admittedly, a lot of it probably gets touched up in post editing before publishing) Personally, I always look to RUKI from the GazettE because I started learning by copying his eye make up. So in terms of styling ands shaping my eyes, I always look at his make up first. But, I also look at other make up artist's work and get inspiration from there. Artists like PureBlackLove and UnderBlueLights. Also Unique-Desire and KlairedeLys (here on dA).
I can't wear brown neutrals to save my life. *laughs* I always end up wearing greys instead if ever. And I hate glitter too. I just find it doesn't look good when I use it. But I use a silver gel liner though! So no pains on having to remove it!

That's cool.Patience is a virtue; at least that what some people say.
(I had to look up all the people you mentioned lol) mmmm Ruki is sexy~ >///< PureBlackLove is very...bold and creepy which i like teehee. i like the red & black tho. I like Unique-Desire, they blend color very nicely. KlaireLys is very artistic and creative w/ their makeup. i am now watching them n_n
Hitsugi's stye IS artistic. Do the members of these bands do their own makeup or do they have people do it for them and they just tell them how they want it? I'm starting to wonder about that.
Grey looks mysterious in my opinion if you wear right. Yay we have something in common! >o< i only use pencil eye liner. How is gel different?
π: 0 β©: 1
Jounka In reply to jmusicluvr13 [2013-02-25 12:36:37 +0000 UTC]
From what I understand, PSC bands (Alice Nine, the GazettE) have make up artists for the bands. Whereas the smaller bands tend to do their make up themselves. But I'm sure it's different from band to band! I only know the GazettE has make up artists (if the internet is right) because the make up artists photos were shared online. Plus, Kaolu Asanuma (from Deep End) works with the GazettE often. But that's the limit to my knowledge. (All biased towards the GazettE. =X) I do know Hitsugi does his own make up for his personal shoots!
Gel tends to set better and last longer than pencils. They also smudge less. They used only to come in pots and you have to use a brush but some brands are coming out with gel liners in pencil forms! Which is nice. XD

jmusicluvr13 In reply to Jounka [2013-02-25 13:44:18 +0000 UTC]
you are very knowledgeable n_n I suppose the bands w/ 5+ members have makeup artists. but yea i'm sure they are some larger bands that like to do their thing. lol if the internet is right. XD well if its a reliable source then yes it usualy is right. Wikipedia isnt really reliable since you can change the info and you can make your own page. but people usally believe it anyway.
Gel seems a lot better than pencil then. i have some problems w/ smudging but not too much. it depends on what brand i'm using. i know they are liquid eye liners! but i dont like having anything liquid close to my eyes... >.<
I've always wondered about people who wear a lot of makeup (your kind of makeup not some girl w/ shit caked on her face lol) what they look like w/o it. its like what do you REALLY look like under all that makeup? XP I'm sure you dont look that different w/o it. n.n i just want to know what your eye color really is since you use colored contacts which are very pretty by the way. my guess its a dark shade of brown like mine OuO or you could ahve rare water-grey colored eyes like the girl in Memoirs of a Geisha. if only i could wear colored contacts see i have glasses and my eyes kinda reject contacts but eventually i will succeed in put them in XD yea confidence! lol

Jounka In reply to jmusicluvr13 [2013-02-26 03:51:53 +0000 UTC]
I don't like liquid liners as well! I feel they are too fussy, even though they can give really sharp lines - I can get the same effect with gel + powder on top. They tend to flake and not dry fast enough for me. *laughs*
I always wanted to do a post about the bare face and how different I do look with and without my make up.
I admit, I look rather different with and without make up. My hairstylist didn't recognise me the first time he saw me without make up. XD Some of my friends did get a surprise on how I look without make up as well.
Nah, I don't have light eyes. *laughs* I'm the other end of the spectrum. My eyes are really dark brown that you can't see that is brown unless I have direct sunlight shining into my eyes. XD

jmusicluvr13 In reply to Jounka [2013-02-26 14:39:53 +0000 UTC]
yea i would probably feel the same. i could smudge it so fast >.<
Really? you dont do any outrageous makeup where you change your entire face. i remember seeing a picture of an Asian girl who looked all cute and adorable w/ makeup and then when she took it off she was like a different person. OvO My friend wanted to know too. I was like that sounds rude asking someone what do they look like w/o makeup. lol i'm sure you still look adorable w/o it. n_n how long does it take to take off your makeup? my sisters uses a solution from the Body Shop nd its really good.
My natural hair color is like jet black but in the sunlight you can see its brown. is your hair the same way like your eyes? oh you can totally stare into someone's soul w/ those dark brown eyes. OwO

Jounka In reply to jmusicluvr13 [2013-02-26 15:36:45 +0000 UTC]
I think I'm very similar to that asian girl. *laughs*
I try to be open about such things, I don't find it rude when people ask me such questions. Because, I don't really have much to hide. I mean, I look like what I look like right, I can't change much about that. *laughs*
I look very typical asian, I guess? I'm not that white either, sometimes I come off really white in photos but I'm really more yellow toned. (I'm not japanese type of fair, more southeast asian fair. XD) But I was never considered pretty or even remotely cute when I was growing up. I always joke that now when people say I'm really stunning and I just say "It's after an hour of make up!" XD
I take off my make up really fast, I use make up remover wipes. I'm usually done within 5 minutes or so then I'm off to wash my face to make sure I got it all off. Ever since I discovered make up wipes, I have never looked back at make up removers. =X
Yes, my natural hair is just as dark! When I was younger, I had the darkest black hair and eyes. My mother likes to say I looked like a japanese doll. (Though, my friends said I looked more like a boy. ._.)
I could! But I get so uncomfortable when it comes to keeping eye-contact. >///< I can't look at people when I talk.

thats true.
i'm Chinese but w/o my glasses people think i look Japanese. I can actually differentiate ethnicities. i asked an Asian if she was Korean and she was >o< I have pretty fair skin. My complexion is very clear too n_n I think your pretty fair skinned too unless your foundation makes your skin lighter. Same here in photos which is why i hate pictures my face looks so much rounder in pictures. (=_ I was just an average girl growing up. but now i feel a little above average >.< so then what is your ethnicity? are you not straight up Japanese? lol Nice those wipes are probably better for you since the type of makeup you put on takes up half your face XD
awwww did you have the traditional bowl cut hair? I did and my mum cut my hair and she made my bangs so uneven and jagged. my hair is parted to the right now and it reached my chin i asked for non-blunt cut.
whaaaaaat? why not? then it makes it seem like you dont want to talk to them if youre not looking at their face. my listen and do other stuff so i ask them if they heard me when they dont say anything. you sound like a shy girl who has a big personality n_n which makes you all the more lovable
<3 <3 <3

I would love to be japanese! *laughs* But I'm not.*sad face* I'm actually mixed~ Malay and Chinese.
I'm pretty fair, like the fair medium kind of range.
My hair was usually short and layered but not really bowl cut. Short and layered! XD Was too young to really remember. My hair now is... *laughs* severely damaged and extremely layered - just so I can do all that visual kei hair stuff.
I don't know. I just get really uncomfortable staring at people when I talk to them. But I acknowledge verbally that I heard them. >__< It's even worse when I find them attractive, I end up staring at the ground.
I guess I am? ; I've always been quiet and introverted. No matter how hard I try, I always freeze up when I have to talk to people I don't really know. But I'm okay with typing - that's why I like to write more than speak. ><

but dont you use hair dyes by garnier or loreal? the brands that actually keep your hair healthy. i actually thought you were Japanese because of your name n_n Hey a fellow Chinese XD do you speak Mandarin or Cantonese? I speak Cantonese; my mum is from Hong Kong.
lol when theyre attractive. XD i used to be somewhat of a introvert but i think i was just quiet and shy. i was pushover in middle school. how old are you? I am 16 born in'96. you look like maybe my age or older. but i've been mistaken for someone in college or the same age as my sisters who are in theyre
well the way you express yourself is pretty bold. i'm loud but i can be quiet when i want to. >///<

My hair's really damaged from bleaching. *laughs* I went through 4-5 hours of bleaching to get my hair to a platinum blonde. That's why it's so damaged, plus I use heat every time I style it. =X
I can't speak anything other than English. OTL
>w< My name is actually from a character I created when I used to write - I decided to take it for myself. ^_^;
I'm turning 21 this year! /w\ You're so young! *laughs* N-not that I'm that old either ._.
I don't have trouble speaking - I mean, I would most often choose to not mingle. But I can talk if I get spoken to. >"< But that all goes out the window if I see someone really cool: I start stumbling over my words. I also get red faced really quickly. But hopefully my make up hides it. *laughs* I can be loud but only in the moment, even then, I'm still rather quiet compared to others.

oh god platinum blond is pretty bright. oh yea straightening your hair isnt very good for it. which is prolly why i have extremely healthy hair n_n but its diyed rght now but its a natural color and i used a good brand
OTL? i dont believe i know that abbreviation. hey my sis is turning drinking age too. tehee but i'm quite mature for my age and i'm friends w/ my sisters' friends theyre in their 20's. i like hanging w/ people older than me. actually i can get along w/ any age group but i prefer the 18-25 age group >.<
i'm from the internet and i hate people so i feel you. but i'm still friendly (most of the time lol) i have rosy cheeks and so it goes well w/ my fair skin >///< but sometimes it turns pink for no reason...and ppl think i'm blushing when i'm not.
btw its really fun talking to you XD if only i could show what i look like but i hate pictures so...but i guess you can go to my facebook profile but i got a haircut but you can see me w/ longer hair.

"OTL" is a person on their hands and knees. =X Like how they fall to their knees in anime?
^^ I actually get along better with people younger or older than me. *laughs* Somehow, I always struggled to get along with people my age and I don't know why. I only got a couple of friends my age and everyone else is either younger or older than me. >"<
Drinking age? XD Over here, I think we can start drinking legally at 18 (most of my peers start before that but it's like an open secret? =X). But I don't like alcohol. Which surprises most people? They always think that I drink and smoke because of the way I dress. And it's kinda anti-climatic when they ask me for a lighter and I say ".. I don't smoke?". They just stare at me like they are waiting for something to happen. *laughs*.
I only turn really pink if I feel really embarrassed or after a workout. >< I used to be really red because of my acne treatment. I really envy girls who are really pale and look super cute with a pink flush. =X I mean, not in a creepy way but I always found that as really aesthetically pretty. ._. For me, people always point out my lips. My friends want my type of lips. And everyone always says I look very cat-like because of my lips. *laughs* I always get the "Your lips so nice!" from girls.
Ooh, >w< It's alright if you aren't comfortable with that. I have a friend who really dislikes taking photos too - like she would flee the scene at the mention of a camera. I can understand that too, I used to be like that when I was younger. Even now, I'm not the one who goes: OMG PHOTO TIME! and goes mad. *laughs* I don't mind photos but only if I'm prepared for it.

oh wow. same here i'm not gonna be a drinker. except for mixed drinks and i guess wine. thats so judgmental of them and stereotypical of them.
well turning pink like that is normal. Yea my mum says rosy cheeks mean i dont need to put on blush. my lips are like Angelina Jolie and i think thats considered attractive to some people.
cat-like? awwww that so *spazzing out b/c of adorableness*
its not that i'm uncomfortable i'm just not photogenic. >.>

I grew up watching a lot of American and British shows! My parents brought us up speaking only english as well. And I took literature when I was in school. =X
Oohh~ The beginning of the year usually as very few anime conventions and cosplay events but after July, it goes a bit a mad. Last year I was attending an event every 4 weeks. *laughs* @_@ It was so crazy and really tiring.
I would love to live in the UK too! I always wanted to go to London. And I really like the British accent. >///<

i love British shows! i'm watching Sherlock but i only got to the first one. i dont have time to watch anything right now.the life of a junior in HS >~<
oh ok cool. Technically my first language was Cantonese cuz my grandma raised me. but since i went to an American school i learned English and my mom learned English so she could move here from Hong Kong.
Yea. theres one in January (Ichibancon), March (Triad Anime Con), and May (Kira Kira Con)from what i know of. my sis went to Georgia fr DragonCon. There's also Animazement but i cant remember when it is. I go for the panels, dealers room, and taking pics of amazing cosplayers, and making friends and i can glomp people XD
Same here! Yes the accent is sexy >w< but actually its an English accent but people say British so you know what they're talking about. I think i can do a pretty good English accent. and Spanish, German (a little) and Asian like Japanese an Chinese. Like when i'm speaking the language. mainly because i love singing and i make my voice as close to the singer's voice, you know what i mean?

Oooh! The BBC Sherlock series? With Benedict Cumberbatch and Martin Freeman?
I would actually love to attend the cons in america - they seem so much more fun and big compared to the events we have here. We don't have really big panels and stuff like that. The biggest cosplay event here is really a outdoor event with a lot of cosplayers and a stage - but very few official merchandise. >_<. And I would really love to attend those really big game conventions like E3!
Yeah I do! I'm so bad with my voice - I can't change my voice at all and I have quite a bad accent (I feel, the Singaporean accent is really not very nice to listen to. =X)

YES. i love Benedict Cumberbatch after watching the first episode.
I'm sorry ;_; every Asian should experience a legit anime con. ichiban this year had a lot of homestucks. its like homestucks unite. i love seeing ppl cosplay especially when they put a lot of work into it. you should spend a month here in the US (come to Charlotte, North Carolina where i live, i need more people like you >.< the cons are the only exciting things that happen here...) or i could take a trip to where you are. i'd love to visit another ASian country. since i've been to Hong Kong at least the city part of it.
i havent heard of E3. is it a video game based con? i have a hardcore gamer sister who might enjoy that. she plays mostly Asian-made video games; like neptunia hyper dimension and the Tales of [legendia, abyss, vesperia, etc.]
i've never heard a Singaporean accent. i've heard FOB accents not firsthand but i know what they sound like. do you know what a FOB is?
thats another reason why you prefer communictong via the internet. sometimes i stutter because i talk so fast. i'm like trying to say everything at once and it all gets jumbled up into a mess of words that make no sense. also it depends on who i'm talking to to.

*-* Me too! Fell in love with him instantly!
I would love to attend, in fact, it's kind of one of my dreams to go overseas and attend their cons. >< (But I'm planning to go back to school so, it has to wait a few years.) Yeah, I love it when I see a really well done cosplay! I always feel really inspired~
Yeah, E3 is a video-game con! One of the biggest I believe.
Ooh, I used to game a lot when I was younger. Now I just kinda stick to the series that I like. I also play more asian-made games, (mostly japanese) like Monster Hunter, Soul Calibur etc.
>< What's FOB? Don't think I heard of it.
I don't know how to describe the accent, but some times it can sound like the words are being spat out and be a bit whiny sounding.
Yeah! I trip over my words sometimes, I used to panic when it happened and it made it worse. *laughs*

then i might be in Houston, Texas to be w/ family when i got to college. but we're not sure yet. but yea i'd love to meet you in person XD and hear your lovely Singaporean accent n_n
i love soul calibur! i had the fighting game cant remember which one. and i had a demo for monster hunter. Asian made games are s much more....suggestive if you know what i mean. >w<
Fresh off the boat. the heavy Asian accent. whiny like complaining or whiy like high pitched? i slur my words when i talk fast sometimes and people (my mom and sister)think i'm mumbling.

YES. or how in every rpg w/ fighting and stuff, the girl's armor shows more skin and when she's out of armor she's covered up. hat kind of logic is that?! seriously i think they jsut do that way for the male gamers. and thats how they created the sexy gamer girl who's just a slut w/ a controller.

^^!
If you can't get skype set up, it's okay too! >w< Maybe one day we will really manage to meet each other.
Yeah! Every mmorpg is like that too. Especially TERA. My god. One race's armour gets less and less the higher level you go. I guess it is, and I guess most character designers are male as well. But TERA does it for both genders, which is nice for a change I guess? *laughs* (All the bare abs for the males and some faces are really pretty.) Sometimes I feel that girl gamers also try to fit themselves into that? =X I don't know if it's just me but I've seen some videos of games playing video games in their underwear/pjs. I mean, I don't play like that! I curse and swear and drop F bombs when I play. >< And also remain clothed.
Over here the stereotype for gamer girls is that you're assumed to be a bit air-headed and bad at playing video games? Like, you're supposed to be like "YEAH I PLAY GAMES." but the only game you know is like L4D or League of Legends. I have shocked so many guys that I play Counter Strike, Battlefield, Call of Duty and a ton of mmorpgs.

TERA is all the rage w/ my guy friends and
my gamer girl friend. she loved checking out
the different races and she wanted to be an
animal
maybe they get hot while playing an intense game.
my sister is the same as you. she say shit and
goddammit a lot XD but she does play in her pjs which
consists of a large t-shirt and boxer shorts.
i hate generalizations like that...stereotypes are
funny tho what the jokes >u<
she plays/ed assassin's creed games, prototype, persona 3,
a lot of the Final Fantasy games (8,9,10,10-2,13,13-2)
my other sis more of a pc gamer now she really into maple story
i cant get into that tho i tried
i've played a PS1 game called Rhapsody (RPG, cute romance, musical)
and couldnt beat this jeweled flying unicorn in this RPG called
Atelier Mana. tried legend of zelda oracle of season on the gameboy
and i've beaten pokemon blue version and i have emerald on the wii but
havent played in LONG time. and i have harevest moon tree of tranquility
for the wii as well.

Oohh!
Yeah, I ended up choosing one of the animal looking races even though the armour is extremely revealing. *laughs* .. Because they also get the race faces that I thought looked really pretty. I can't get into maple story either. >< It's a little too much like a platforming game for me.
How's Harvest Moon? Saw it in the store the other day but I didn't get it.
>< I don't play a lot too these days because my time is divided between running my website and getting things done for events and photo shoots. (On top of reading a lot of beauty websites and looking at cosplayer's photos.)
I don't mind generalisations/stereotypes when it comes to jokes too because they can be really funny. But usually here, they expect you to live by it sometimes, so it gets a bit annoying. ><

I havent had time to look at deviants' art DX or read that much.
there's a lot of things I havent had time for or i just dont feel

I see~
I was kind of interested in getting it but I'm more of an action game type of gamer. *laughs*
I have to take a break after a while too, especially if it's really busy on facebook and twitter for me.
that's alright, I guess? ><

So what's a day in Jounka's daily life like? >.<
I think we're close enough to tell each other our real names. My name is Pansy but I ask my parents to call me by my Chinese name: Yuk Ching and I want to change my name to Violet when I turn 18. I hope it's not too much paperwork and of course I have to ask my mom. If I ca't just yet then I use my Chinese name and have people call me Ching Ching. I just hope it doesn't sound butchered when non-Asians say it or Asians who speak no Asian language.

Right now? It's a little bit boring. *laughs*
I play a lot of monster hunter. Going to a meet up this weekend! Rather excited~
I don't really give out my real name unless they know it through school or work. >w< A lot of people I meet through conventions know me as Jounka only.
Ahh I see!
I'm terrible with chinese names. >< I can never get it right.
^^ Is Violet from the flower or from the colour?

Why not? Introvert maybe? Or just not curious or nosy? Although nosy has a bad connotation. >.>

=X I don't know. I kinda tend to leave people alone.
I like people to tell me about themselves because I feel that's what they are comfortable with telling - instead of possibly asking a question they don't feel comfortable answering. >_<"

Yea I understand that. Well. I love to sing and dancing is really good exerise so when i'm alone i like to dance sometimes to my music while singing. I can sing Japanese songs, one or two Chinese, and one in French or it might be Italian it's called Canta Per Me by Kajiura Yuki. I change the frequency of my voice to almost match theirs. I can't sing w/ my actual voice. It's really invigorating. I love Asian culture mainly Chinese and Japanese. I love everything about it. I absouutely LOVE anime and I can't stand listening to dub so original and subbed for me. I've been to Hong Kong twice and Chinatown, New York in New York City. I want to major in Psychology but I also want to be an animal care specialist. I have 3 personalities that are 3 different people. Ching Ching: the overly friendly, adorable Asian, she's optimistic. Violet: the sadistic misanthrope who doesn't give a fuck about your feelings. And finally Haru: the male version of Ching Ching and Violet combined.
Alright now that I've shared my current life story, maybe you're comfrotable about telling me about yourself? >u<
