Ok so... I'll recommend you to try different sizes, shapes and positions for the eyes first and then place their mouth.
You can use lines and triangles to help you. Here are some examples

Hmm, I personally like adding some parental figures in my stories (something nobody could tell because in Golden Podium there are many fights between parents and children and some of the parental figures are missing) but I understand the point.
Don't worry about the format, it's your comic and you're the one who makes the decisions!
