Awesome! You will have a lot of fun cosplaying her! ^^ And, I believe you could make a staff in two days. Mine is just made out of an old shower rod that I painted with silver spray paint, very simple and quick to make 
You could also get some kinda of wooden rod, but it would be a lot heavier, and possibly a little more difficult to finish in time for your con.

I checked out your other costumes on Cosplay and WOW I've never seen such great cosplaying!!
I'm quite new to cosplay.. .. it's not very big over here in the UK and most people fnd it weird - hardly anyone likes japanese culture which sucks for someone like me
I got introduced to Deathnote (which was the first Anime and first Manga I had ever seen) and fell in love with it ^_^ now I just want to read and watch anything I can get my hands on! but it's expensive over here

Oh really? I've met online quite a few people int he UK who cosplay, from my perspective it is more popular there than here. Haha~ It isnt all that popular here either, but it has definitely gained a lot of interest since I started, and that has only been a few years 
Haha, well I don't get on here too much unless I have some photos to post, or a journal entry to type. So your best bet is probably facebook!
