Hmm, I actually feel that I su*k at backgrounds too. I usually slap some textures on a layer and play with the blending modes. A great advice I was given once was 'chose the background colors first coz that will effect your chara/main focus colors' and that's what I do.

yeah, practise sometimes is kinda boring, but it pays back..eventually lol I make the effort to draw at least 2 hrs everyday and if I take it as something I do normally, like eating for example, it makes it easier (I had to give up tv thou lol)

and wow, even on school days ? I can't find 2 hours..
T-T and when you draw do you do anything else in the same time? I have a lot of problem focusing on drawing only - get distracted and then can't finish the drawing. I do try to sketch the most possible though..
What do u usually draw for 2 hours? Just random or do you have practice exercices ?

I don't have school days anymore, I have work days lol I usually draw in the evenings; yeah, it's hard to find the time, but I try my best (I don't sleep much thou ^^'); hmm, if I'm just doodling (like I grab a pencil and let it go)I usually watch my favourite bands concerts or even a movie, sometimes I listen to video tutorials on youtube (lol) but if I have to draw something that needs my attention (like anatomy exercises) or painting I just listen to music.
It depends on what I feel like doing, don't have a schedule,sometimes I draw hands for hours, sometimes heads, eyes, trees, sometimes I study my favourite artists styles, whatever I do is useful practise anyway XD

I have a loooong way before school days T-T and yea there's no shortcut for drawing T-T just have to draw for hours like that..
Summer is coming though, finally gonna hav some drawing time x3
