Well, he became master of the Void's dark power some time after the immortal wizard Enuo traded his immortality for control of it. Exdeath eventually was absorbed by it after his defeat at the hands of four of the long line of the "Warriors of Light", but fused with all it had taken, and became Neo Exdeath, but was defeated for the final time by those same four Warriors of Light. So I suppose you were one of the lucky ones who managed to escape before Exdeath was absorbed.
