RIGHT?! It depresses me EVERY time because the girls expressions and I know exactly how she feels...

The girl depends on the boy in order to deal with her depression, but she thinks that the boy doesn't suffer the same way she is thus he is smiling while he is breaking. Eventually the boy cannot deal with it and leaves, more than likely committing suicide and breaking the illusion that he is happy. This breaking of the facade pertains to when she is talking about him laughing while he is breaking a part. In the end the girl just wishes that she could go back in time and have him lean on her instead.
