I wonder why I said that.

Shama's quite a name, lots of meaning too it. Wulf, obvious, but rolls off the tongue better than the English equivalent, in my opinion.
Nabel is different all together. Hard to find, too.
Hm. Here I am sitting talking about both your and your friend's name without even having been so polite as to introduce my own. My name is Chanelle, whether you knew it already or not.

what do you know about Shama? i cut off some of the actual word. you won't find that in a dictionary. unless it's a corporation or a pretty bird name.

I googled it, tell you the truth. Not such an accurate and comprehensive search there.
It reminds me of "shaman," for whatever the hell that's worth. It just feels like it means quite a bit. You know how that goes.
I didn't see those last two anywhere. Unless you're speaking figuratively with them, I must be looking in the wrong places!

google Shama or Shaman? i assure you, i could be a pretty corporation or polly wants a cracker. what would you say Shaman means then, mighty googler? in your own terms. then the googled ones. that order.

Damn it all to Hell! How the fuck is it that I keep pressing that damned refresh button EVERY fucking time I've gotten some long, drawn out comment all prettied up!? Time to fall back on memory (because that's so damned accurate).
I googled "Shama." I've never googled "Shaman." That's a little strange, since I'm apparently a google fiend.
I'm terrible with anything computer. You sure you want to be installing me with such a title? May be disastrous.
I have never found the word's definition, only through limited example. I suppose I'd say a Shaman is a being capable and who practices the use of "paranormal" ability for some reason.
As for that google bit, why not just do it yourself? Far more comprehensive than having me copy and paste odds and ends into our little chat here.

if i did it myself, i wouldn't know what you know. mighty googler does not mean you have any level of computer skills or knowledge leading to a healthy ego or bettered narcissism. i was suggesting the use of looking into the information you boldly speak about a little more... thoroughly. now that you have defined Shaman for me, look it up. tell me what it really means.

UncleGran-Gran In reply to WulfShama [2009-05-10 06:05:00 +0000 UTC]
Tell you what it really means? From google? Oh, wish me luck, dear. P:
Thank goodness. Must admit that I was a little worried there.
I must admit I speak assertively in times where I'm not only dead wrong, but suspect it as well. Terrible habit of mine. Forgive my misleading statements. I likely know far less than what I've let on.
Not going with wikipedia. Hm. Mentions healing. Says "The word shaman originated from a word in Siberia and eventually came to be applied to all medicine men and women of indigenous cultures who's practice includes the flight of the soul." Thus a Shaman would likely then be one to work with this "flight of the soul" business.
"Shamanism is the practice of these core techniques, either for healing or to gain spiritual knowledge." Ignore that "these core techniques" bit. It was elaborating on how anthropologists have discovered Shamans all over the world seem to have similar methodry. I think that suits the request well enough. (:

Indeed I am.
So, do you know any Shamans?
It's hard to define what they "are" when Shamans are people. That's it. People that do certain things in certain ways for certain reasons.
But, from your intelligence in particular subject matter, I bet you already knew that.
You've talked to Shelly about what I've told her? Or gotten into her account to see for yourself? She's told me a little bit about you.
You're talented.

wouldn't that include all humans in the category of Shamanic? well. i know LOTS of Shamans then. in spite of their incapacitating stupidity at times. nothing has saddened me more.

Why do you insist on having something you already know explained to you?
Why not spend time on more valuable conversation?

WulfShama In reply to UncleGran-Gran [2009-11-02 06:13:11 +0000 UTC]
it saddens me even more when a conversation based upon human consistency and intuitive reasoning is considered less valuable than a conversation focused on "did" and "could be".

UncleGran-Gran In reply to WulfShama [2009-11-02 06:26:05 +0000 UTC]
Pardon me for being difficult. I dislike answering questions. Which is a little problematic, seeing as I ask so many and am then expected to answer the questions of those who I ask my own.
Shamans work by spiritual/intuitive means to influence things and people in ways they see fit. It's hard to generalize them seeing as some work for good, some for what is seen as bad, and others even for neither "side," but according to their own reasonings.
The few I know work for good, and do things they believe will benefit people the most. If I understand it right. I don't consider myself an expert on them, nor a very reliable source to be asking. It's one of the reasons I didn't want to answer in the first place. I hate being wrong. Or, even, having my opinions factually be wrong. Call it a fear, personal issue. It's existed for a while, and certainly isn't something I don't share with others.

no. i'm sure you will find it in the parent comments somewhere. it's the one question you decided to skip in answering. sensible deduction, yes?

Ah. A good friend of mine gets to asking me things like this as well, where I'm supposed to go back and find something obvious to others. I blissfully overlook the obvious. I'm quite an infuriating pain in the ass that way. Just replying now to warn you to wait those nasty few months it will take for me to find it.

Nah, I wouldn't trade you. I'd keep you selfishly. Maybe in a basement somewhere, or a roof. Whichever you preferred.
Maybe alter between one and the other, shifts.
