# About me

Let's see.... what is there to say about me....
Follow me on facebook at www.facebook.com/ArtworkByElin…

I'm a biologist ^_^), and I draw because I enjoy it ^_^ I really would like to get a job where I could draw though.... But one step at the time I suppose. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to tell me! Suggestions are always welcome ^_^ Or just to say hi :P I enjoy random conversations ^_^

Favourite quotes:
"Now I'm gonna eat this... But I'm highly offended by it!" - the Lorax (Dr Seuss)
"Something is rotten in the state of Denmark" - Marcellus in Shakespeare's Hamlet

And now some Ace Attorney quotes! :D

Edgeworth: I’ll be the judge of that, Detective Gumshoe.
Franziska: No, you won’t! I’ll be the judge of that!
Judge: No, no, no, no, no! I’M the judge around here! And I’LL be the judge of that!
Gumshoe: Why can’t you guys be a little less judgmental…?

Godot: I’ve heard it’s pretty hard to keep appointments when you’re dead.

Phoenix: Hey! I don't have anything to do with spirit power. The only thing I can channel is a TV.

Edgeworth: You really should come with a supply of cheese to match your vintage whine.

Kristoph: A defense attorney must always cede to his client’s wishes. And my client specifically requested Mr. Justice.
Judge: Well, of course he wants justice!

I'm so happy you like them!
Ragdolls are so wonderfully pretty. I'd love to have one myself too, but for now I have to settle with taking photos of my sister's kitty.

A biologist! Hello, I am a biologist myself, cell and microbiology by degree and health sciences, pathology by trade first and now a food scientist. What branch of biology do you study and work in?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Karsmera In reply to Mouthman-Prophecy [2014-08-12 01:26:08 +0000 UTC]

Thank you for the watch

I'm in a rather different branch of biology. I've got a bachelor degree in International Wildlife Biology, and a masters degree in Protected Area Management. I wish to work in the human dimensions area of my field, and my thesis was on anthropomorphism and the use of anthropomorphism in communication.

Thank you for wanting to use some of my pictures as pose references. I must admit that I can't quite imagine how my pictures would work with your style, not in a manner that keeps the essence of what I was trying to capture in them anyway. I suppose mouths aren't my thing

Mouthman-Prophecy In reply to Karsmera [2014-08-12 01:35:55 +0000 UTC]

Wildlife biology is definitely interesting, I did get a fair level of exposure to this and protected area ecosystems biology as my schooling was at a university that was situated amongst several protected areas along a river flood plain.

Oh, wow, sorry about that.....Yes, this is my "wierd stuff" account. I have a mainstream 3D render account where I render heroic warrior women, casual everyday people and elves and faeries. This is where I would be using the stock poses. I will contact you through that account when I use a pose and give reference. Don't worry, no mouths and nothing weird. I promise.

Karsmera In reply to Mouthman-Prophecy [2014-08-12 01:56:47 +0000 UTC]

It is an area I find very interesting myself anyway I also like art, which is why I ended up researching anthropomorphism (the attribution of human characteristics to non-human entities in case you're unfamiliar with the term). I have had some exposure to cell and microbiology. In that area, I find genetics quite interesting, and population genetics in particular. I also found that I prefer theory though, as I felt majorly confused whenever we were in the lab.

Thank you for clarifying I really was wondering, and I prefer to be rather direct about things. It makes communication a lot easier for the most part.

I know this goes back to August.......

Anthropomorphism is certainly fascinating. It seems humans have superimposing the idea of self onto the natural world around them for millennia. I do wonder why this has always been and have some theories of my own (though I am no expert). I would like to hear your insights on this seemingly essential human need to anthropomorphize the world around them.

Karsmera In reply to Mouthman-Prophecy [2014-11-21 06:29:44 +0000 UTC]

I haven't been looking into why we anthropomorphize, but rather how different levels/intensities of physical  anthropomorphism of an animal character influence our perception of similarity to self. The reason I've been looking into this is to better understand anthropomorphism such that it may be used as a more efficient tool in e.g. conservation work. It could be a good tool to use in order to trying to promote uncharismatic species.

Mouthman-Prophecy In reply to Karsmera [2014-11-21 23:20:35 +0000 UTC]

Fascinating. Not what I was expecting but fascinating all the same. Like the anthropomorphism of sharks in an attempt to change people's perception of them as something of fascination, instead of something to fear. It is interesting when we look around ourselves in our world, just how much we surround ourselves in our likeness, whether overt (like media portrayal of human acting animal character), down to more subtle but ever- present automobile front and rear faces.
I applaud you in your conservation work. I fear we may be one of the last generations to enjoy the beauty of the world as it is today, we lose pieces of nature every second to the relentless progression of the human animal.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Karsmera In reply to Mouthman-Prophecy [2014-11-21 23:27:50 +0000 UTC]

Sharks actually are charismatic Hence there is a lot of attention around them. One doesn't really need to anthropomorphize a shark in order to make people relate to them more. I think it would probably work best for lesser known species, such as the leadbeater's possum. The idea is that we tend to care more about (have stronger caring behaviours for-) animals and the like that are more similar to ourselves. That's why we generally care more about mammals than insects, just to mention one example.

And yes, we are in the 6th mass extinction. Environmental science can be a very depressing field.
