# About me

I am a self-proclaimed geek! I fit into almost every geek category: science - majored in Physics, music - former choir nerd, video games - both old and new, science fiction/fantasy, anime - have you seen Code Geas? I highly recommend, programming - I can make my own graphing calculator, etc. It's kind of ridiculous! But makes my life much more fun!

Creative hobbies include cross stitch (where I stitch sprites of all of my old favorite games) and writing fanfiction for Chrono Trigger and now Sailor Moon. (archiveofourown.org/works/1771… ).

And the rest of the time I'm usually trapped grading lab reports or physics tests. During this time I cannot resist listening to what I call epic music! It must be instrumental because lyrics would distract me too much from my task. Usually it involves lots of strings or guitars or both! Think video game and movie soundtrack (something like Requiem for a Dream or MGS4's opening theme! I also recommend Lindsey Stirling, Escala and Apocalytpica!)

Personal Quote: “To do great important tasks, two things are necessary: a plan and not quite enough time.

Hey, would you do custom cross-stitching? There's some shit i need really bad but have no knowledge on how to make it...

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-12 23:25:06 +0000 UTC]

The short answer is yes, but it depends on what you want and how big it is. I don't have a lot of time right now, but if its small I can probably manage. But if it's big you're looking at a six month or more turn around time.

I also usually don't agree to anything that I'm not personally somewhat interested in. I mean no offense to potential clients - I just have a hard time motivating myself if I'm not into the project I'm working on. Just wanted to be upfront about that.

I could also downsize it a bit, but it would lose a lot of quality - especially close up.

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-14 02:40:29 +0000 UTC]

This is AMAZING!!! I would LOVE to take this on. But to be completely transparent, it's huge! If I were to do it on 16 count fabric (which is smaller than standard, but would look better because its essentially higher resolution - this design might even pull off 18 count rather nicely) it'd measure 2.5 x 1.5 FEET!!! This would take a minimum of year - possibly longer (Crono kasienda.deviantart.com/art/Cr… took about 4 months of concerted effort and he 1/4 the size) and with such a huge time commitment it'd be expensive (like around $2000). If you're okay with all that, I'd be happy to get started early February - I would document my progress every two months and send you updates.

I could make a pattern from the picture, and identify colors for about $35 and you could give that to anyone who knew how to stitch and they'd be able to make it for you - perhaps, for less. This is only as much as it is, because I don't let the computer select colors because it dulls them. I pick them all out by hand so I can see the relationship between them to make sure that it all works together.

But if all of that is too much, I'd also be willing to send you piece meal instructions for how to go about doing this yourself, from the basic stitch to picking out colors, to using the picture to create your pattern. And I'd be willing to do that completely for free. It deserves to be made.

Sorry! I tend to go on and on. Let me know what you would like to do. And if your answer is no to all of it, I understand. Whatever you decide I am truly honored by the request!

It all turned out way too complicated unfortunately. Maybe this one instead: postimg.org/image/kdmb89oib/

I'm also considering the character alone in a much higher resolution.

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-19 18:15:11 +0000 UTC]

This one is still pretty big, a little more than half the size of the original one you sent me. But it'd cut your price in about half if you wanted the whole scene. I half to admit that I'm not as excited as I was with Shinobi. The only consequence to that is that I'd probably tend to work slower.

The dwarf himself is much more doable. As he currently stands, he'd be about 5 inches tall. I'd be willing to do him as he is for about $50. Definitely interested in seeing the higher resolution version of him.

BossNigger91 In reply to Kasienda [2014-01-20 12:06:08 +0000 UTC]

Yeah i know it's not as fancy but a year and 2.000$... it's pretty hefty. 1.000$ still is in fact. The figure alone, would it be 5 inches tall if cross-stitch represented one pixel?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-20 19:39:35 +0000 UTC]

Yeah, its expensive because it takes so much time. I used to just say no when things were that big, but then a friend of mine told me that I should name a price that would make me willing to do it and let the other person say no. Who knows, someday I may stumble onto someone that is willing/able to pay it!

And yes, about 5 inches if one stitch represented one pixel. That's really the best way to do it.  A pretty small sprite can be a pretty big stitch. This is because you're often looking at pictures that are normally 300 dots per inch, or even at their absolute worst: 80 dpi. But cross stitch is essentially 14-18 dpi. So things get big really fast.

If you want to know how big a design is just take the pixel count in one direction (width or height) and divide by 16 and that is approximately how tall the stitched design would be.

BossNigger91 In reply to Kasienda [2014-01-21 15:10:46 +0000 UTC]

I'm not passing judgement but merely explaining that it's something I myself cannot afford. How about if you let each pixel be 4 cross-stitches instead? The main issue i want to avaoid is that it becomes too zoomed in, do you think that would happen in this scenario?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-27 01:31:56 +0000 UTC]

I don't think you need to make it four stitches. You'll actually lose a lot of resolution if you do that. These pieces look best if you're standing a few few away. But if you make one pixel four stitches you'll have to stand quite a ways away.

As for whether we should move forward... That's totally up to you!!

Just to clarify, I believe we're talking about just the dwarf for ~$50-60 + shipping?

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BossNigger91 In reply to Kasienda [2014-01-27 14:27:18 +0000 UTC]

Well you know better than me; if it makes it look worse then keep it with the original size.

Yeah 50$ + shipping.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-01-31 15:09:14 +0000 UTC]

I will get started next week. I do want to make clear that $50-60 is a range and I don't know exactly what it will be until I finish. It has to do with how many colors and how complex the stitching is with where the colors are.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BossNigger91 In reply to Kasienda [2014-02-02 20:04:27 +0000 UTC]

How do you mean "how many"? If you zoom it in there's different nuances, each one is one additional color.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

Kasienda In reply to BossNigger91 [2014-02-04 14:53:34 +0000 UTC]

So yeah, exactly, but each pixel is not its own color. There's only about five shades of brown - four shades of green, etc. There's probably somewhere between 8 and 32 colors. Most things don't go above that. The more colors there are the more complicated the stitching becomes because you have to change colors. This one is not too bad. Looks to be about 16, which would put your price at $54 + shipping.

👍: 0 ⏩: 1

BossNigger91 In reply to Kasienda [2014-02-04 15:52:48 +0000 UTC]

I know what you mean now. Yeah 54$ is ok. I want it on white background due to the fact that the characters outlining already has black. Other colors i don't think would fit.
